The following morning, I didn't want to get out of bed. I didn't even want to look in a mirror. I was home alone. I rang Amelia to tell her the news.

"What the fuck do you mean you're moving?" She roared down the phone.

"Dad got a job promotion and he took it" I explained to her.

"You can't just leave me Jess! We've been friends for almost 12 years!" She cried. "I know, I know. I'll try find a way to stay. I really don't want to leave" I sighed.

"Wait, you could move in with me!" She squealed. "That's a great idea, I'll convince my parents when they're home" I answered.

"Look, I have to go help mum in the garden, but don't take no for an answer" she told be before she hung up.

I sat alone in my room. I really couldn't think of life without Amelia. She was like a sister to me. Ever since the loss of my sister when we were five, she was there for me. My twin sister Janet had fatally been struck by a car the summer of our fifth birthday. Amelia came over to me on the day of her funeral and said she would be my sister for me. Little did I know, she basically turned into my sister. Without her, part of me was missing.

Later that evening, my parents and I sat at the dinner table.

"So, I was thinking, instead of you turning down the promotion I think you should go for it" my dad was surprised at my statement.

"But, I can't leave Amelia, especially. So we were thinking, maybe I could move in with her.." I stated.

My mum sighed. "Honey, I know Amelia is like your sister and it breaks us that we have to do this, but because you're only 15, we can't leave you here or the authorities will take you into foster care, I'm so sorry. Jessica, you're coming to Sydney with us. We're leaving on Friday". My mum explained.

I knew there was no point in arguing with her. "Will I ever see her again?" I asked holding back my tears. "Of course you will! Once we've settled down we'll pay for her tickets and let her visit!" My dad told me. I felt some relief knowing my parents were that generous.

After dinner, I rang Amelia. "Well, what did they say?" She asked with her hopes high.

"If I was 18, they would allow me, but for legal reasons, I can't stay." I explained to her. "Wait, so you're actually leaving? Jess I-" Amelia broke down. "But my dad said once we've settled in and have our house sorted that he would pay for your transport down here for a few weeks.

I don't begin school down there for another month I think" I explained to her. She tried pulling herself together. "When do you leave?" She asked. "Friday night. Please keep it to yourself" there was a silence on the other end of the line. She hung up. I thought she was mad at me.

I sat in bed trying to get my head around this. Maybe this move would be good. It would be a fresh start for me. I could move on from Jason and what he done to me. I'm sure I'll make new friends down there.

I decided to delete all of my social media and start fresh. Ten minutes later, I heard my front door opening. It was 10pm, it was a bit late for visitors. "I'm moving in for this week Mrs. Parker" it was Amelia with a suitcase. "I am spending every minute with you Jess before you leave". Tears came to my eyes. I had the best friend that anyone could have.

We spent the night watching films and flicking through our memory book.

We looked up places in Sydney to know the city. I couldn't believe we were leaving so soon. The fact that I've to pack everything and leave in 5 days. It was over whelming.

We spent the week shopping and enjoying ourselves.

We had to appreciate every minute we had together because soon, we would be on the opposite sides of the world to each other.

We bought two lockets, in each, we had a picture of each other on one side and the other side we had our first picture that we had taken together. On the back, we had the date Amelia told me she would be my sister engraved on.

It was Thursday night, our last night together.

My room was nothing but boxes, Amelia's suitcase, and my bed. We were both upset, knowing after spending almost everyday of our lives together, that we would be thousands of miles away from each other.

Just before we were about to sleep, my phone vibrated. I checked it instead of ignoring it. It was Jason.

Jay: "so I heard you were moving. Hah, you can't always run away from your problems..."
