Pope and JJ both open the door of Freedman's Church respectively, causing a few birds to fly through the building. Rosa looks into the run-down church, which already has plants working their way up the walls and the wood is rotten and splintered "Ehm Pope, you're telling me Denmark Tanny decided to hide the cross here?" Pope looks at her for a moment and nods, "Mm-hmm."
"Everybody, just spread out" Kie suggests to the others before she starts scanning the church. Rosa looks uncertainly at JJ, who nods at her to give her some encouragement.
"Okay, well, if I was a cross and wanted to be hidden in an old church, where would I hide?" John B asks the others who are already looking for the cross "Stop asking stupid fucking questions and search" John B looks at Rosa "Thank you, Rosa, charming as always."
"Are you sure that Denmark hid the cross here, Pope? Like, are we at the right church?" JJ looks around critically while Rosa clings to his arm, pretty scared that the church is going to collapse on itself any second.
"It's gotta be here somewhere, guys" Pope stands at the altar and looks into the church, JJ takes Rosa's hand and walks to the piano "What if we have to push a secret button or, like, play, like, a... a certain chord, and then, all of a sudden, the ground beneath us reveals the catacombs or something on which we stand?" Rosa looks at JJ confused, "We're not in some escape room here, maybe we'll look for a more useful way, yes?" JJ looks at her and raises his eyebrows briefly.
"It's gotta be in here" Pope hisses and JJ looks to the others while whispering "Sorry. I'm sorry."
Pope sighs and scans the walls, "Come on."
"I can't see where they'd hide a giant cross here" John B looks at Pope who looks angrily at him, "No, no. There's no way he would set us up on a freaking goose chase that would lead us to a church that has nothing!" John B nods, "Yes, I get it. I don't know what to tell you, man."
"The clues led us here. The cross is in this church" Pope walks along between Sarah and Kie, John B looks at him "Pope, it'll be all right. We've had setbacks in the past, and we figured it out. We're gonna find it." Pope drops down on one of the benches and looks at the floor in frustration while Kie sits down next to him, "He's right."
"We've just gotta think about this logically, all right? Where else would you hide a seven-foot-tall cross made of gold?" John B looks at Rosa, who is looking through the spyglass, which she slowly removes from her eye and looks with her mouth open at Pope, who immediately stands up "What? What did you see?!" Rosa looks up at a cross formed from wooden beams, causing the others to follow her gaze. Pope immediately stands up and presses a kiss to her cheek, "You genius!" JJ looks over at him "Hey, hey, that's my genius" JJ grins and then nudges Pope.
"Oh my God! Look at that" Kie looks at the cross, fascinated.
Pope walks over to the wall where are several holes which he climbs up, Sarah looks worriedly at him, "Pope."
