Your POV

What the hell are you thinking Erwin?! If we don't get these civilians out of the city, they'll die by the thousands! That hulking monstrosity will be a stone's throw from the wall by morning!" Carsten yelled while gripping the collar of Erwin's jacket.

"That titan is an abnormal," I state.

"Right, and what the hell does that even mean?!" Carsten yelled. I saw Levi tense beside me, and he scowled at the man that was yelling at me.

I merely leaned forward and crossed my hands on the table. Calmly, I started explaining, "It behaves strangely. Unlike most titans we encounter, it's only attracted to large groups of people. Hence the word 'abnormal.' Put simply, given the choice between a few soldiers right next to it and a distant, but densely populated city, it'll choose the city. Which is why Erwin's plan makes perfect sense."

"Exactly," Hanji added, "If we were to evacuate Orvud's populace to the interior of Wall Sina right now, the titan would change its course, destroying the wall and anything else in its path. Left unchecked, it would make for the city with the greatest density of people, Mitras. The ensuing rampage would deliver a devastating blow to humanity. As we rode for Orvud, we had Eren Yeager attempt to use his recently discovered power to control titans. Rod Reiss' titan didn't react in any way.

Flashback to Eren...

"Stop moving now! I said stop! Hey, I'm talking to you! Hey, asshole! Ya hear me? C'mon you tiny old man!" Eren shouted. He suddenly realized what he had said and gasps. I snicker quietly as Levi glares daggers at him.

Back to the meeting room...

"If we're to stop this thing, it'll have to be outside the walls of Orvud District. For that to happen, we require the citizens here to act as bait. However, this doesn't change the fact that our first and foremost duty as soldiers is to protect the people. In the event that we're unable to halt the target, we'll take measures to minimize civilian losses. We'll announce a district-wide evacuation drill tonight. The people will be gathered away from the outer wall, ready to escape if the battle is lost," Erwin explains.

Carsten seems to think for a moment before answering, "It seems there's no other choice."

With the affirmation, Erwin continues explaining, "The body of this titan is the largest we've seen yet. As such, it presents an easy target. Our wall-mounted cannons should prove highly effective, but if we can't bring it down with artillery... the scout regiment will throw everything we have at it."

After a restless night of preparation...

There was a tense silence filling the air as the sun rose above a distant mountain peak. There were dozens of cannons lined along the wall that were ready to fire at any moment. The massive titan crawled forward, toward the densely populated city of Orvud.

"Fire!"

All the cannons went off, about 20 at a time, for a couple rounds. There was smoke and steam rising into the air, so we watched and waited for it to clear. Mine and Levi's squad, along with Erwin, were standing, ready to attack the giant titan. "Well. How'd that do?" Erwin asked, mostly himself. Suddenly, a large hand shot out from the cloud of smoke and the titan emerged, still crawling towards the wall.

"Fire!"

This time, the field cannons went off from the ground, but they didn't seem to do nearly as much as the wall-mounted ones. "Looks like the field cannons are even less effective," Erwin says.
