Your POV
It had been two months since Historia was crowned queen. The people have started calling her the 'Cattle Farming Goddess' due to the fact that she has been looking after orphans from the underground. Levi has been a strong advocate for it. It means a lot to him that someone actually cares about the less fortunate children. He'll never admit it, but he actually is a big softie when it comes to kids. There was this one little boy, Matteo, that was really struggling to adjust to life outside the underground. He was closed off and would never interact with anyone. He didn't talk for the first 2 weeks he was here. Eventually, Levi was able to crack his shell and get through to him. I may have even shed a few tears when Matteo gave Levi the biggest hug and Levi patted his head. He'll be a great father someday.
Unfortunately, the military has lost some of its best soldiers as a result of the coup. Many of the interior police had to be removed and jailed for the actions against humanity. But the discoveries of the glowing ore in the cavern under the chapel seemed to make up for it. We also gained a lot more scouts in the process. So, that's a plus.
On another note, Eren and I have been practicing our hardening ability. It's not pretty, but it's something. We've been able to harden without having physical contact. It's pretty draining, but well worth it if we're able to retake Wall Maria. We've been working with Hanji to make a new weapon that will kill the titans outside the wall without putting anyone at risk. We used our titan powers to create beams that ran across a divot in the wall. A scout would go down and lure a titan in. Only it's head would be caught in it because of the calculated positions of the hardened substance. Once it was in, the scout would give the signal for the rope to be cut and a large wooden pillar would come crashing down on the nape of the neck, effectively killing the giants.
Currently, a group of the scouts were watching the first test run of said device. "That hit right at the nape of its neck! This could be it!" Hanji said in anticipation. Slowly, the log fell back, and the titan let out a burst of steam and began decaying. Hanji, Moblit, and I all gasped in excitement. "We did it! That's a twelve-meter we crushed!"
"It worked," I breathed out as I dropped to my knees. I was feeling pretty weak from building the thing, but I was relieved that all that effort actually accomplished something. I felt a warm liquid gush from my nose and raised my hand up to touch it. I pulled my fingers back and saw that my nose had started to bleed pretty bad. I was now dripping onto the floor. Levi quickly knelt down and placed a hand on my shoulder while handing me a handkerchief.
"Hell yeah! With this baby, we can kill titans without putting any soldiers at risk! We'll hack down those bastards all day and night! Say hello to the executioner from hell! We did it, Eren and Y/N!" Hanji shouted again turning back to Eren and me. She saw my state and worriedly called out, "Y/N?"
"Looks like she must've overused her titan abilities. They've been doing hardening experiments for days," Levi said while rubbing my back comfortingly.
"I'm sorry, both of you," Hanji apologized sincerely to Eren and me.
I quickly shook my head and turned to her. "No, there's nothing to apologize for," I told her determinedly.
"She's right," Eren agreed, "We can't slow down just cause we're tired, right? I'm fine."
I gave a nod of affirmation while wiping the last of the blood from my nose, "We're both okay. Let's just make these weapons quickly, and then go to Shiganshina."
That night...
Levi and I were at dinner. I was eating some bread and soup when suddenly, an image flashed through my head. It was an image of Commandant Keith Shadis flashed through my mind. Then, a memory of him that was my fathers. They were running somewhere and there was a panic. I dropped my spoon into my bowl as my eyes widened. Levi looked at me in concern. I suddenly stood up and slammed my hands onto the table, turning in Eren's direction. He was already looking at me. I scurried out of my seat and ran over to him. "You saw it too. Shadis was in dad's memories." Eren had told me about the memory he had gotten under the chapel. I was confused, when he said he saw a scout in dad's memories. He showed it to me, but I just couldn't figure out who it was. He seemed so... familiar. Like we knew each other somehow. And I was right.
