Warning: wet clothes trope, fear, awkward interaction, threats possibly

--

I awoke at the sound of thunder making me jolt upright. I looked around confused for a moment about my surroundings, before realized I was still in my car.

Safe and sound.

I let out a long sigh before leaning back in my seat. It was comforting, just sitting here and listening to the rain. My thoughts were blurring with the white noise of the rain, making my mind clear for the first time in a while.

That comfort was quickly ripped away from me when I heard a slight knock on my door. I jumped in fright before looking towards my window.

I saw a blurry figure making me confused before I quickly rolled down the window slightly, just enough for the guy to fit a few fingers in if he tried. I didn't

"Yes?" I asked glancing at the man. He was soaked from head to toe with rain, his shirt slightly see-through because of it. He adjusted his green hat before trying to get a better look at me.

"Ya alright?" he asked over the sound of rain. "Oh yeah, I'm fine. I'm sorry, was this private property?" I asked even though it was on the side of the road.

"No no, s'not. I was just worried." He said slowly glancing behind my car, this prompted me to do the same. I looked behind seeing his dirty pickup truck was covered with animal parts, making me uncomfortable.

"Well, you're alright so I won't bother you anymore. If you need any help, you can just holler." He said beginning to walk away. I felt a bit uncomfortable with his behavior but he seemed just like a nice guy checking in.

I started my car and was about to try driving off but stopped when my car shut down as if I had taken the key out of the ignition while driving. I paused before looking at my tank meter, seeing it completely empty.

"What?" I said confused, did I really run out of gas so soon? Actually, when was the last time I refilled on gas? I sat there stunned that I might have actually been dumb enough to run out of gas without noticing.

I let out a long sigh before glancing to see if that nice guy was there anymore. Luckily he was just sitting in his truck, almost like he was waiting.

I bite my lip having this uneasy feeling about the whole thing, but what other option did I have?

I waved my hand out my window, hoping to catch his attention. This worked because I watched the man get out of his truck and walk over again.

"You okay?" He asked bending down. "No, uh, this is really embarrassing, but I've run out of gas," I said looking up at him again, meeting his brown eyes.

"I could give ya a ride to the nearby town for some gas? Bo is sure to have some." He said slowly, making me bite my lip again. I chewed on it for a moment before looking back up to him.

"Sure! I'd really like that." I said smiling at him. I watched him smile back "Gotcha, grab whatever you need and we'll get going." He said tapping the top of my car before walking back to his.

I let out a deep breath I was holding, hoping this wouldn't go badly. Although knowing my luck, I'm already screwed.

I quickly looked in the back, finding some old towels I kept in my car to clean up messes. If that guy was another Pcyho killer, I could at least treat him nicely. Maybe he wouldn't kill me if I did.

I grabbed my towels before deciding I didn't have anything else useful to take with me. I had a phone but I couldn't call anyone but that friend on it. So I placed it under my seat for safekeeping.
