Warning: Fear, flirting, scheming
--
He offered his hand for me to shake, which I reciprocated. Our hands gripped each other as he gave a few squeezes, feeling my skin for unnecessarily long. I shivered feeling his cold ring contrast with his warm hands.
"So what's the problem?" He asked turning to Lester. I gave him a strange look, shouldn't he be asking ME what the problem was since it was MY car?
"Her car ran outta gas." He answered simply as Bo hummed.
"I can pay for a gas can, then have Lester drive me back. I can pay you for that too." I said quickly turning to Lester. He put his hand up surprised I whipped my head around to him and was about to speak before getting interrupted.
"Let's see what I can do for you, Lester," Bo called to his brother. "Help me in the back." He commanded before walking off, not even checking if he was actually following.
I watched as Lester threw me a glance before following after his brother. I stared at where the two disappeared before looking around the shop. I wondered if I could buy some sort of weapon here, maybe even steal it.
My eyes spotted a small red pocket knife.
--
"How do you feel about her?" I asked my brother, taking my cigarette out of my mouth for a moment.
"I uh-" Lester paused his face flushing red. "Yeah what I thought, I felt the same way." I laughed a little, tapping my cigarette over an ashtray.
"We need to keep her here, so here's what we're gonna do," I said grabbing his attention.
"You go and take her car to the old factory, I'll take her to Vincent," I added looking around my shop. "And what are you gonna tell her?" He asked turning to leave.
"Eh, I'll come up with something," I said waving him off. I watched him leave before looking towards the main part of the shop.
I was about to walk out of the mechanical garage but stopped when I noticed her looking at something. She was so engrossed in her thoughts she didn't notice me, so I took the chance to lean against the doorframe and watch.
She looked down at the small shitty knives I sold in the store that you probably couldn't cut yourself with if you tried. She picked on up and held it close to her face, examining it.
I watched her go to pocket it but stopped herself, staring down at it. I watched her face contort into guilt staring down at the knife before she turned to walk towards the counter, jumping as she spotted me.
--
I jumped seeing Bo leaning up against the doorway staring at me. "How long have you been standing there?" I asked as he chuckled.
"You're a very kind and gentle person." He laughed before walking over to the counter. He walked behind the structure before leaning against the counter.
I opened my mouth to speak but was stopped as I heard a car start. I looked out the window and saw Lester pull out of the garage with Bo's tow truck.
"Where he's going?" I asked realizing I was alone with Bo now.
"Ah, he's going to get your car. He thought it was easier than driving you over. Plus, you won't have to drive through the rain." He said as I felt a cold sweat drip down my back.
"Oh, how considerate," I said smiling, trying my best to hide my worry.
"You gonna buy that?" He asked gesturing to the small knife in my hand. "Yeah sure," I said quickly placing it on the counter. He looked at me for a second before reaching his hand out.
I thought he was going to grab the knife but he ended up tapping his finger against the cuff on my hand. "Is that the reason you want the knife?" He asked as I moved my hand away from his.
"Yeah, you could say that," I mumbled grabbing at the cuff. "That ain't really the best knife." He responded grabbing it.
"Telling someone your product is shit isn't the best marketing strategy," I said glaring at him. He scoffed putting the knife down.
"How about this, I'll get those cuffs off of you, and you buy something else." He offered as I looked at him unconvinced. "Or just don't get this shitty knife, a girl like you deserves better." He flirted.
I scoffed before looking down at my cuffed hand, was it worth the risk? I could get rid of this damned cuff but having Bo come near me with any sort of heavy equipment scared me.
"How would you do that?" I asked as he chucked. I watched him bend down before pulling large bolt cutters from behind the counter.
"This baby can cut through almost anything." He said tapping the metal, I shivered.
"Yeah even bone," I mumbled before I could stop myself. This made him pause, his lips uncurling from his devilish smirk to a straight line.
"Do you think I'm gonna hurt you?" He asked, almost baffled.
"I'm sorry, I'm just a little jumpy from my past interactions," I said, not really lying. He sighed before offering his hand. I looked down at it curious, noticing his silver and black ring.
"'Ain't it funny? I know how it feels to be shackled down. To be scared like that, angry even." he said slowly pulling his sleeve down. I looked at his mangled wrist, feeling a pang of empathy.
"I'm sorry that happened to you," I said playing with my hands. I felt almost intrusive looking at his scars, like seeing him naked.
"So what I'm trying to say is that I'm not gonna hurt you. Especially when I can relate to you." He chuckled, I still felt uneasy but I really wanted the cuffs off.
I let out a deep sigh before offering my hand, making him smile. He lifted the bolt cutters and I waited for some sort of pain to come from it, closing my eyes tight. I felt the metal tool graze my hand before hooking around the cuffs.
I shivered when I heard him grunt as the bolt clutters dug into the cuffs, struggling to cut the rusty metal. I was about to tell him to stop, excepting that these cuffs would forever be a part of me, but paused when I heard a noise.
Cl-ang
I opened my eyes seeing the cuff cut and Bo's hand bending them apart. So I could slip my hand out.
"Thank you," I said pulling my hand away and out of the cuffs. "You're real cute." He chucked and toss the rusty cuff into the trash.
I stared at Bo for a second watching as he looked outside making me copy him. I saw that the rain had stopped, clearing the sky.
"Hey, you know. Here we have a pretty cool museum, the wax museum. People used to come from all over to see it." He said as I turned to him. I had a pretty good idea where this was going but allowed him to continue.
"Wanna take a walk over? I think you'll like it." Bo said. "Ta kill some time before your car gets here," He added.
I looked outside, thinking that I could escape him when he wasn't looking. "Yeah, that sounds nice," I said turning to him, I watched his face smile with a heartwarming warmth.
He moved from behind the counter and then walked over to the door, holding it open for me. I chuckled a little at his enthusiasm before walking out the door.
