Prompt: While foraging for some scarce supplies during a full moon on Halloween, you disturb an ancient burial ground. Enraged, the diseased raises an undead army, causing the earth to rot and cursing all who come into contact to wither and join their ranks.

I ALWAYS HATED HAVING TO GO OUT TO LOOK FOR SUPPLIES. IT'S my least favorite chore I've been assigned.

Especially on a night like this. Call me superstitious but being out at night on Halloween with a full moon in the sky is the last thing I would be doing for fun. Although you don't have a lot of fun during a damn apocalypse.

"Just get the supplies and leave Mallory." I told myself.

Opening my backpack, I cracked open to my surprise an un-looted cardboard box. Most of these boxes would be looted but I ended up lucky with this one.

I stuffed my backpack full of canned goods before zipping it up. On the way out I found a hygiene product and a bottle of water which I snagged.

The group I am staying with isn't that big.

There's a single mother with her son who is about ten years old. I always felt bad for that kid, despite that he listens very well and goes quiet if any of the creatures appear. He doesn't start screaming and crying the way a baby would. Their names were Sophie and Augustin.

Then there's a middle-aged woman by the name Delilah. She has to be one of my favorites of the group. She's pretty smart and despite being a retired exotic dancer she knew how to operate a gun.

And like every group there had to be an annoying ass man.

Our annoying ass man was named Darren and he made me thankful I was a lesbian. The man embodies every single bad trait. From his military background to his extreme case of misogyny that he has going.

If he wasn't good at survival, I'm sure we would've cast him out by now.

His ass is the reason I'm out here.

Going out at night isn't all that different from the day. The creatures that hunt us would go out at either time so it's honestly just a matter of staying alert.

But a full moon on Halloween just sounds like someone looking to get their shit wrecked. And Darren had to be the person to send me out by myself.

The only benefit is me finding a candy bar I would give to Augustin.

While I like Delilah a lot, I do have a soft spot for Augustin and his mom.

His mom is also hot, so he does have that going for him.

Augustin doesn't get to have the fun Halloween's of going trick-or-treating so the least I could do is get him a candy bar.

With my supply run now done I got into the car and started the trek back home.

Cars can be dangerous to travel by, but I'd much rather have to speed away from a creature than run on foot. In a car I can run over anything that gets close to me.

On foot I'd be stuck hiding or using the pistol that I'm not good with.

Darren had been nice enough to send a gun with me on my run. Besides that, I'm mostly unarmed besides running people over with the car.

I don't trust any of the humans I see besides the one from the group. An apocalypse has turned people desperate and scared. Things people never would've done before they don't hesitate to do. You can murder people now as there are no cops to arrest you.

Any cops left had forgotten all about their badge or had been killed in the mass panic when this first began.

Our group has a few useful people. Augustin's mom Sophie is a retired RN. She has more than patched up all of us a few times by now. But it's appreciated.
