I HAD NEVER LIKED CELEBRATIONS OF ANY TYPE. HALLOWEEN is no exception. If anything, it's worse than other celebrations. I never liked Halloween.
I mean as a child I used to until a bad experience and now every time it rolls around it leaves a bad feeling in my mouth.
I'd much rather be at home curled up with a blanket, a pint of ice cream and some movie on. The only good thing about Halloween is all the pumpkin flavored food and of course candy. I love pumpkin flavors and pumpkin flavors come out in full force once autumn hits.
I'm only here for my twin sister Maren.
She loves all holidays and hosting parties for them. And Halloween is no exception for Maren's holidays celebrations.
I was in the back with a cup of some themed drink while Maren hung off the arm of her latest boyfriend. They met at a mutual workplace and now they were inseparable. I honestly couldn't even recall his name.
"Hey you must be Amaya right?"
My self-lamenting hate and despisal of the holiday was cut off but someone coming up behind me to talk.
I turned around to see a man who had me taking just a step back by how damn attractive he is.
"I am, who are you?" I asked.
"I'm Virya, I'm Novak's friend. He's Maren's boyfriend." Virya pointed over to the brunette who has my sister at him.
"Oh okay."
I looked up and down at Virya still getting used to him.
He's tall and has blonde layered hair and green eyes. He looks like a modern-day Adonis and a closer look at the bracelet told me that his modern-day Adonis look isn't natural.
Virya let out a small laugh as he picked up his arm where the bracelet sat.
"Yeah, Maren didn't tell you I assume?" Virya asked.
"That you're an alien?" I asked.
"I prefer different terms but yeah. Energy type as well. You don't have an issue with that right?" Virya asked.
"Nope, no issue. Did Maren send you over here to get me more active?" I asked.
"No, I came over as you looked kind of glum just sitting over here by yourself. It's kind of depressing." Virya commented.
I forced a smile on my face.
"I uh don't really like Halloween all that much." I told him.
"Why are you here then?" Virya asked.
"I support my sister in whatever she does as long as it isn't detrimental to her health."
I looked back to where Maren stood with her boyfriend. Novak has the same bracelet that Virya has but a different design. It made more sense why Maren got that high up science job. I just hope she wasn't stupid enough to try to bang her way up the top.
"That's sweet of you. Why don't you like Halloween?" Virya asked.
"Not everybody likes holidays." I told him.
For someone I had just met he is getting quite pushy. Most people I'd have told off by now. But each time I got ready to, I found myself unable to let the words slip from my mouth. Instead, I'm left staring into his emerald eyes.
