The morning sun cast a warm glow through the curtains as Emma slowly stirred from her slumber. She stretched and yawned, realizing that Jack was already awake beside her. His eyes met hers with a gentle smile.
"Hey, morning sleepyhead," Jack greeted her, pulling her closer and planting a sweet kiss on her lips.
"Good morning to you too," Emma replied, returning his affectionate gesture with another kiss.
As they made their way down the hall, the sound of hushed voices drew Emma's attention. She followed the soft murmurs to the kitchen, where their friends had gathered.
"Morning, you two lovebirds," Elijah chimed in, holding a spatula in one hand as he stirred something sizzling in a pan. "Breakfast is ready."
With their friends already seated at the table, Emma and Jack joined them. Sofie held her coffee with both hands, savoring the warmth and tranquility of the morning. She couldn't help but notice that Jack and Elijah remained uncharacteristically silent, engaged in an intense, private conversation.
"So, all of you have a day off today, right?" Sofie finally asked, breaking the silence.
A chorus of affirmative replies followed from everyone at the table, except for Jack and Elijah. Their conversation continued, their expressions tense. Emma felt a pang of concern but decided not to pry. She trusted Jack and knew that he would share with her when the time was right.
Jack finally gave a small nod, and both he and Elijah informed the group that they had a meeting to attend, promising to catch up with them afterward wherever they planned to spend their day off.
Back in their room, Emma couldn't hold back her curiosity any longer. As they got dressed, she turned to Jack with a gentle expression.
"Jack, is everything okay? Please tell me... What was going on down there with Elijah, and what happened yesterday?" Emma inquired with concern lacing her voice.
Jack paused for a moment, his eyes locking onto hers. He could sense her worry and knew he needed to reassure her.
"Yes, Emma, everything is fine," Jack reassured her, his voice soft and comforting. "Elijah works for me in my company. When I'm stressed or have a lot on my plate, he helps me out in my office. You don't have to worry about it."
Emma nodded, relief washing over her. She trusted Jack completely, and knowing that he was open and honest with her was all she needed to ease her concerns. With a tender smile, she stepped closer to him, wrapping her arms around him in a loving embrace.
"Okay, Jack. I trust you," Emma whispered, her voice filled with affection.
As they shared a tender moment, their love for each other only grew stronger. The unspoken bond between them was as unbreakable as ever, and nothing could come between them. Today was a new day, and they were ready to face it together, their love stronger than any doubt or worry that might arise.
