Emma stirred awake, her eyes adjusting to the soft morning light filtering through the curtains. To her surprise, Jack was still sound asleep next to her. She couldn't help but smile at the sight of him, his peaceful expression accentuated by the warm morning glow. Gently, she traced the contours of his face with her finger, her heart fluttering with excitement that this was all real.

As if sensing her touch, Jack stirred, his lips curving into a sleepy smile as he kissed the finger that was tracing his features. "Good morning, gorgeous," he murmured, his eyes half-lidded as he gazed up at her.

"Good morning to you too, handsome," Emma replied, mimicking his drowsy tone. The intimacy of the moment filled the air around them, a tangible connection that seemed to solidify their bond.

But reality tugged at them. "We can't stay in bed any longer," Emma said with a playful pout, reluctantly pulling away.

Jack protested with a mock whine, "But whyyy?" His reluctance to leave the cocoon of their shared space was endearing.

"We have work to get to," Emma chuckled, already heading towards the bathroom. Jack finally roused himself from the bed, his playfulness unchanged even as he pouted. "You big baby," Emma teased, laughter in her voice.

They dressed quickly, the morning's responsibilities tugging them back into the rhythm of their lives. Jack dropped Emma off at her workplace, promising to pick her up later.''I'll pick you up at 7'' "We'll have dinner on our way home," he added, his use of the word 'home' not escaping Emma's notice. Her heart swelled at the thought.

The café buzzed with activity as the day unfolded. Hours slipped away, and before she knew it, it was 7 o'clock. Just as the evening rush began, Jack entered the café, his presence catching Emma's attention. She signaled to him, five minutes. Swiftly, she changed into her regular attire, informing Brad and Mia that she was leaving for the day.

Outside, the atmosphere changed as soon as Emma stepped into Jack's waiting embrace. Their lips met passionately as if they were reuniting after an eternity apart. Emma chuckled when they finally pulled away, "We last saw each other just a few hours ago."

Their hands entwined as they walked to Jack's car. The evening air was tinged with a sense of comfort, the shared laughter and affection blending seamlessly. They decided to grab dinner at a nearby pizza place, their conversation flowing effortlessly as they recounted their respective days.

The car ride back was filled with a comfortable silence. As they neared Emma's house, she noticed a change in Jack's demeanor. His face, once expressive and lively, now seemed guarded and distant. Concern bubbled up within her, but she hesitated to pry.

"What's wrong, Jack? I thought we were going to your house" she asked softly, placing a reassuring hand on his leg.

Jack's grip on the steering wheel tightened, his gaze fixed on the road ahead. "I just have some work. We might not be able to spend much time tonight."

Emma felt a pang of empathy. His eyes revealed a hint of pain, hidden beneath the surface. She didn't want to push him, but her worry for him was evident. They reached her house, and she got out, watching Jack from the sidewalk.

His eyes met hers, the vulnerability she saw making her heart ache. As he pulled away, she hoped he knew he could lean on her, that whatever was bothering him, they would face it together. And as she stood there, watching his car disappear down the street, she knew that love's journey wasn't always straightforward, but it was worth navigating the twists and turns that came their way.
