Time seemed to slip away as days passed in a blur for Jack and Emma. Their busy schedules kept them occupied, but they made an effort to meet whenever they could. The tension that had existed between Jack and Elijah seemed to have dissipated, and things were returning to normal.
One evening, Laura, Sofie, Leo, Elijah, and Jack gathered at Emma's cafe. The atmosphere was relaxed and filled with laughter as they chatted and enjoyed their time together.
"So, you said you were a makeup artist for actors, right?" Emma asked Laura between bites of a cinnamon bun.
Laura nodded, her mouth still full. "Yep, that's me."
Emma's curiosity got the better of her. "Which actor looks the worst without makeup?"
Laura paused to consider her response. "Honestly, none of them. Their skincare routines are on a whole different level. It's a world of expensive products and treatments."
Sofie chimed in, her eyes widening. "Oh wow, I can only imagine."
As their conversation continued, the evening slipped by, and soon it was time for Sofie to leave.
"Okay, bye, guys. I'll catch you all next time. My break is over," Sofie said, standing up.
After exchanging farewells, the group dispersed, leaving only Jack and Emma behind.
"Let's go home together," Jack suggested. "I'll work on my stuff while you finish your shift."
"Sounds good," Emma replied, giving Jack a quick peck on the lips.
As the evening wore on, Emma wrapped up her shift at the cafe, and together, they made their way to Jack's house.
