Lucy Quinzel AKA LilithPalo Duro canyon, Texas

All was quiet on the Western front, or at least that's what played in the back of her mind as she scaled up the canyon wall.
She wasn't stupid, she could feel the others staring. I mean don't get her wrong, climbing an unsteady rock face with one arm was difficult. But so was being looked at like she was a weak. And Lucy Quinzel was not weak.
She hooked her leg up a hold and hoisted herself onto a ledge for a vantage point. From this spot it almost made her gain a soft spot for Texas. The sun was setting over the horizon painting the sky a brilliant orange fading into pink. Birds with large wingspans dipped and twisted in the cold snap air. It was almost peaceful. Almost.
"Are you in position?" Sunny asked through the crackly earpiece.
She winced and pressed it down to respond, "yes, they won't see me."
That was true, for now. At any moment the Cadmus goons would be making their way over the ridge undoubtedly being tracked by the young justice team. They weren't really Cadmus people, but an under the table tip from Lex Luthor claiming they were was hard to ignore. Whoever Luxy boy had paid to scramble over the canyon with a satchel full of traceable radio electronics were surly in for a surprise tonight.
She ducked down behind the rocks in her hiding spot hearing scratching on the stone. The crumbly sedimentary rock of the canyon was unstable but it would have to do. She prayed Sunny knew what he was doing. No, she prayed everyone stuck to the plan.
Fiasco
Kae shifted weight from the balls of her feet to her heel to shake off energy while waiting. Mara—Mirage now for this mission—had told her to stop pacing in case it gave away their position and she was brimming with anticipation.
As soon as she saw the speedster kid he was done. Nobody could lock her up that long without punishment. But what if he does it again? No. She was stronger now. Free. Kid Flash was going to regret ever sealing her fate to that room. She glanced at Mara—damn call her Mirage—peering over their position in the rocks. She had always liked her odd dark eyes. Not all bad had come from it. But she was going to have to channel that anger to avenge her pride.
They heard a scraping at the stone like someone was coming. Kae—Fiasco as she should be referring to herself on missions if she could ever remember—placed a hand on Mara's back.
"A person or animal?" Fiasco mouthed.
Mirage listened hard then opened her eyes, "I think that's our bait."
A few moments later three men in dark uniforms scrambled over the canyon wall. The first one stopped at the top with his bag of (virtually useless) trinkets Sunny had stashed. He was panting.
"Aye, why—are these so—heavy—ah I need a minute."
Number two whacked him on the back of the head, "let's just get these across yeah? I prefer we get paid."
Of course Sunny was planning on them to be caught and no payment would be necessary.
Almost as if on cue a cackling laughter echoed throughout the canyon. Kae pressed herself down into the stone trying to search for the source. The men in the open rock were visibly unsettled and drew weapons. They were done for.
Suddenly something large and destructive crashed into the rock ahead of them. Fiasco peered through the dust to see it was a large muscular boy with a large S on his T-shirt. What? How much had she missed in juvie?
He looked at them and cracked his knuckles with an intimidating popping. "Drop the Cadmus tech, now."
Fiasco smirked. It begins.
Lux's notes
- test Kae to see how her strength holds against the super boy
- make sure money is wired to people of slight desperation and incompetence to draw out young justice team
- buy celebratory brownies for everyone afterwards—————————————————————————
Slay, y'all get a chapter early cause it's the weekend and I don't wanna escape from my bed.
