Xander wasn't sure what to expect from the younger twin. He hadn't let her know about Grayson, though he probably should have.
Stepping quickly out of the black SUV, he found a very agitated Gigi Grayson at the gates. Standing around 5 ft 6, she had uneven short brown hair, bright blue eyes, and a very lovable personality.
Today though, might not be one of those days. As soon as she was let through the massive iron gates, she began firing words away.
"Why didn't you tell me that my brother got shot and is barely hanging in there? I'm his sister too and I deserve to know." She proceeded on before Xander could say anything. "I should have been here sooner, but I was in Italy with Savannah and my phone decided to not work. I hardly ever check the news so I had no idea. It was mom who told us when we got home. But she shouldn't have been the one. You should have! I went to the hospital but they told me he was brought here. I want to see him! He's not just your brother Alexander, he's mine too." She bit the bottom end of her lip like she was trying not cry.
"I'm sorry." Xander said sincerely. "You're right, I should have told you, but I didn't want to frighten you."
"I don't frighten easily you know. I can take blood and gunshots. It someone trying to kill my brother that I can't take."
Xander understood how she felt.
"Are you going to invite me in?" She asked, showing him a small smile.
He smiled back, happy that the Gigi he knew and loved was back. "I thought you'd never ask."
Sitting together in the back of the car, he saw how tired she looked. "Are you sleeping alright?" he asked, concerned for her health.
"I guess so. I have been having trouble sleeping, and this incident isn't helping."
Xander nodded. "Where is Savannah?"
"She is home with mom. I decided I would be the one to go and see how he was doing and give them a report. How is he doing?"
"The same." He sighed. "He is stable and seems to be doing fine. He just won't wake up. The doctors have checked and everything is fine in his brain. It's one of those incidents where the patient doesn't want to wake up."
"Well I'm here now." Gigi said determinedly. "I'll get him to wake up, just you wait and see."
Xander appreciated her enthusiasm, and hoped it would work to get Grayson to wake up.
He led her into the house and through the massive foyer. Avery and Jameson were waiting there for them.
"You must be Gigi." Avery said warmly, extending her hand. "We have never met before. I'm Avery and this is Jameson."
"Nice to meet you." Gigi said, shaking Avery's hand. "I've heard a lot about you."
"I hope they were good things." She said in a joking manner while shooting a playful glare in Xander's direction.
"Always." He replied, giving her a sly grin.
"Nice to finally meet the famous Gigi Grayson." Jameson said with a crooked smile. "Wow! That's weird saying Gigi Grayson."
She giggled. "I know. Just call me Gigi. Everyone else does. Well, almost everyone. My brother is the only one except for my dad who calls me by my real name." A sad look washed over her face. "I forgot how much I liked my father calling me that. It was more of a pet name between us then my actual name. When Grayson called me Juliet, after almost a year of not hearing it, it was like my father was back again and everything was fine. I still don't like it, but Grayson is the only one allowed to call me that. If you do I will have to make sure you never do it again."
Xander tried not to think of what she would do, but he more tried not to think about how he secretly wanted to know what trouble she had up her sleeve to use. Shaking the thought away, he decided that now was the best time to take her up to the sick room.
They walked in silence. He watched as her eyes widened while walking past enormous paintings, gold framed doors, and other beautiful rooms. She spun in awe when they entered Grayson's personal library.
"This is amazing!" She breathed. "I'm not big on books, btu Savannah loves them. I'm sure she would enjoy seeing this."
"I'm sure she would." He agreed. Her happy countenance was short lived when she saw the heart wrenching sight before her.
She was standing so still and barley breathing that he was afraid she might have gone into shock. Getting worried, he lightly placed his hand on her shoulder. "Are you ok? Do you need to go into the other room?"
She quickly recovered, much to his relief. "No. I will be alright." His gaze never left her as she hesitantly moved toward the side of the bed. Ever so gently, she brushed a strand of hair away from his face.
Xander was amazed how calm and almost mother like she was behaving. Could this really be the wild, carefree, caffeine loving girl he knew?
She squeezed his hand lightly, being careful of all the tubes and wires that were sticking out from it. She traced her hand along his arm as well. "He is so cold." She murmured.
Xander came and stood next to her. He too reach down and touched the bare arm. She was right, it was cold. He checked the other one. Cold as well. He hoped it was because they were bare and not covered with a blanket and not something else.
He quickly retrieved a heavy, dark brown woolen blanket from a closet in the dressing room. Gigi took it from him and consciously placed it over Grayson's body, covering the exposed arms.
After making sure he would be fine, she found a chair and sat in it. "I'm staying." She said with a stubborn look. "I'm staying until he wakes up, and if it's another week or two weeks or even months, I don't care. He was there for me when I needed him, and I'm going to be there for him. Whether he likes it or not."
And that was that. Gigi Grayson had spoken, and there was nothing else to be said about the matter. She was staying, there was no doubt about it now.
