Ashley is a teenage girl who is friends with a group called the losers club but enemies with Richie Tozier, a losers club member. Her dad went to NYC on a trip and never came back, her sister went missing and because of both those things, her mother got into drugs and alcohol, eventually dying. So Ash then went on to start living with the Uris' as Stanley has been her best friend since being a baby so his family was basically her family, making them siblings seemed to be the best thing to do for her which it was and it made their bond even stronger.
