Shades

The nightmares keep coming,
In shades of sadness and blue;
A chill so aching at heart
And leaves everything in shattered shards.

The nightmares keep coming,
In shades of happiness and yellow;
A shade giving off such warmth in its hue,
But can also be too good to be true.

The nightmares keep coming,
In shades of serenity and green;
That seem so unreasonably adverse
And asks "if it can ever be deserved?"

The nightmares keep coming,
In shades of vibrant red;
Hard to determine if anger or love,
Or something none of the above.

The nightmares keep coming,
In darkest shades of black;
Which show me harshness and struggle
That comes along with the hurdles.

The nightmares keep coming,
In shades of perplexity and orange;
That have so many questions attached,
And answers that cannot be matched.
