Genya had always known.

Even when he was young, he had remembered everything.

He hadn't cried.

It was all ok, he had protected Muichiro and Sanemi.

He promised himself that the suffering had been worth it.

Then, he stumbled upon a pair of gravestones, covered in weeds.

He nearly collapsed when he read the name of his lover, death date the same as his own.

The feelings he had told himself to keep locked away had burst out like a breaking dam, drowning out any last drop of hope he had left.

Genya Shinazugawa had not wanted to die.

All the suffering he had endured had been for nothing at all.

None of it was necessary.

A natural reaction would be to give up.

To mourn what had once been.

But love conquers all.

Every day of every month of every year Genya visited those graves.

He cleared away the weeds and vines and brought fresh flowers each day, Harebells, to symbolize Grief and everlasting love.

Each day he would sit there and tell Muichiro about his day.

He hoped that wherever Muichiro was, whether on heaven or earth, that he heard him.

He hoped he knew how sorry he was.

The memory plagued him every night, reminding him that he was the most horrible person on earth.

"It's always about your brother! Sanemi this, Sanemi that! Why is it that you care about him more than me?! He doesn't even acknowledge you existence and you still worship him like a fucking god! It's Pathetic!

"What would you know about brothers? Yours is fucking dead!"

He regretted it the moment it came out of his mouth.

Muichiro stepped back, a look of horror mixed with betrayal on his face.

"Muichiro I-"

Genya began, trying to take back what he said.

"forget it, Shinazugawa "

That was the last actual conversation he had ever had with Muichiro before they both met their demise.

He was never able to apologize.

Every time he thought about it, he was reminded of the things he was never able to do.

He never got Muichiro flowers.

He knew exactly what king he would have gotten.

Forget-me-not's, so Muichiro would never forget him.

So much for that.

But no matter what, no matter whether Muichiro remembered him or not, He would find him in every lifetime.

No matter the people he met, he would always search for Muichiro.

Now that he found him, he promised himself he was never going to let go of him ever again.

Even if he had to stay as 'just a friend'.

Even if all the force in the world tried to pull them apart.

Even if Muichiro was covered in thorns and he was bleeding out.
