7. Maybe be different

He didn't want to admit it, but drinking a beer around midnight always made him become a kid again. Not because at that time he drank or anything like that, but because alcohol managed to slowly calm him down from the first time, he had tried it; although at that time he didn't like it because he considered it too bitter. But hey, people change, and suddenly that bitterness was all he could crave after touring the city all day while he delivered orders from his family's restaurant: 'Chicken Min'.

He was sitting with his legs spread on one of the outside chairs of the convenience store on Central Avenue. The most popular place in the city was incredibly desolate at that hour, which was a relief. Yoongi never really liked people, who only knew how to argue and call each other names, fight again and then call each other again...

"Motherfucker!"

He turned his head to see a woman coming screaming out of a restaurant. Her hair was messy, and she had a hysterical fire in his eyes as he followed a boy, probably her boyfriend or something, much calmer than her and, presumably, sober.

The girl staggered on her own legs, which looked more like splintered bones than flesh, carrying her from side to side like a mere paper puppet.

She made Yoongi sigh.

"Son of-!" He was going to scream again, but then he ran into the avenue to vomit something with too much body and viscosity for Yoongi, who instantly snorted and tossed his beer to the side.

He was sure that, if it had been up to him, he would have left her lying there like she was, her feet covered in vomit. For some reason, the boy who accompanied her did not think the same.

"My God, Miyeon-ah!" He told her, as he forced her by pulling her arm to get up. The drunk woman fought, but then she reacted by moaning and retching.

Yoongi decided it was interesting. He saw him hold her, look at her lovingly, and call a taxi. He left her inside, paying with a large bill to probably compensate for the vomiting, and then closed the door and watched the vehicle leave. It was then that Yoongi really noticed him: dressed in a strangely new suit, glasses, an ID around his neck.

His footsteps didn't really sound. Yoongi looked away as the man entered the convenience store. He thought about returning home then, having seen enough, but something held him back. At the time of his thoughts, the man came out again with a plastic bag with a soju brand showing.

He must have watched his purchase for too long, because the man hid the bag behind his legs in fear. Yoongi, noticing this, raised his gaze to meet the boy's, who stepped back.

"I have no money!" He said suddenly. Yoongi raised an eyebrow, amused.

"I bet not." He couldn't help but comment.

Soon, Yoongi stood up, causing the man to stagger. It would have been funny if Yoongi kept stealing from inept people like him, but no. Resigned, he returned to his motorcycle and started the engine. If he was lucky, the order of the 22nd would still be at least lukewarm.

That man saw whose motorcycle it was, the name was funny, but the delivery man was scary. He waited for him to leave so he could feel more at peace, but he was surprised that, after a while, the motorcycle still wouldn't start.

Yoongi was with growing frustration, banging and complaining at the device. He ended up getting up and kicking him hard, but it only made him fall. Cursing him under his breath he was already seeing how his father would scold him later.

The strange man watched him intently, not knowing why he should care, nor what led him to intervene shortly after.

"Wait!" The strange man's voice stopped his tantrum. "It's the battery, you'll only make it worse."

Yoongi didn't speak, he was too shocked to question anything; The stranger approached and checked the damage. After some examination, he looked up at the man whose helmet said 'D-town' in barely legible writing.

"I have some things in my car, I can give you power if you want." He looked at it for a moment. Who did this guy think he was? Yoongi snorted, wanting to refuse. That man noticed his attitude and nodded. "Unless you have a better idea."

His charismatic attitude only managed to worsen Yoongi's mood, who, crossing his arms, finally decided to speak.

"Where is the car?" It was a gruff response, but the strange man still smiled.

"Further down the avenue. Come."

They both walked holding the motorcycle to where the car was, which luckily was not so far away; Upon arrival, Yoongi did not expect to see a Mercedes Benz parked perfectly, a contrast to the rest of the modest cars. He glanced at it out of the corner of his eye. That guy really was a show-off.

"Ready." Yoongi woke up at the statement to realize that the current was already aligned with his motorcycle and the man was now waiting to recharge the battery. Soon the process was finished, so the man got out of his car and secured all the equipment again.

Yoongi bowed slowly when the man was in front of him, signaling that he was grateful; That man did not ask for anything more. Afterwards, he took the motorcycle from him and prepared to leave.

"I hope to have free chicken one day!" Yoongi heard the strange man scream from the distance.

Driving back home, Yoongi couldn't help but to feel lonely, now that every friend of his had gone away to study, leaving him all on his own trapped in the same small city, where he was safe.

Arriving home after delivering the last order of the night, his father didn't say much to him, other than to scold him saying ''You wouldn't be this tired if you would've entered college.'' Dazed, Yoongi tried his best not to argue back, and retreated to his room. The city was full of unreliable people, harming people.

And, he suddenly realized that even though he had been nothing but an asshole to him the last time they talked, Yoongi still needed to talk to Taehyung.
