Chp. 8: The Secret Of Sanji's Glow

Sanji finished preparing some pancakes and called everyone in, asking they eat the pancakes while they were still hot. The former prince had prepared some syrup for them and finished up some sausage, eggs, and bacon. He set them in the center with some utensils for everyone to take what they wanted. Zoro looked at his mate. "Oi Cook! Come and eat, you know why." He said catching Sanji's attention. "It's alright, I'll wait till everyone finishes, if anything I can prepare a little something for me later." He said much to Zoro's displeasure. Zoro grit his teeth in agitation before getting up and leaving. "Zoro? Are you gonna eat that?" Asked Luffy as he watched the swordsman leave without taking his plate with him. "No I'm not, you can have it." Stated Zoro as he left. Sanji winced and dropped what he was holding as he held his bond mark. Chopper rushed over to him. "Are you alright? Sanji?" He asked. "I displeased him when I said I would wait till everyone finished eating." He said only loud enough for Chopper to hear. Once everyone finished breakfast Sanji was left in the galley and began preparing something and loading up a picnic basket. Once he finished he slipped out and went to where he knew Zoro would be. In the workout room just below the Crow's Nest is exactly where the former prince knew his mate would be. Zoro looked over when his bond mark tingled. "What is it?" He asked which hurt the omega. "I uh.... I brought you this, I thought we could maybe eat together?" Said Sanji though the last part came as more of a question. Zoro sighed before setting down the massive weight. "Yeah sure, alright." He said as he sat down. "Come here." Said Zoro gently. Sanji smiled a bit and sat beside him unpacking the basket. The two ate together. "I'm sorry alpha, I know you were upset when I didn't eat breakfast with you and the others earlier." Apologized Sanji. Zoro growled and pinned the omega which caused him to yelp in pain and surprise. "Don't You Dare Call Me That!" He growled looking down at the former prince. "I- I'm sorry." Apologized Sanji and Zoro backed off. He felt terrible, his mate was beneath him trembling. "Shit. Sanji I'm so sorry." He apologized as he released the omega's wrists.

Sanji sat up and looked away. "It's fine. I'm gonna go wash up everything." He said as he stood up. Zoro watched him leave and punched the floor. "Damn It!" He growled he did what no alpha should ever do, and that was to attack his mate, though it was an accidental outburst he still did wrong. Chopper went into the galley. "Sanji? Can you tell me about last night? Please? You glowed so bright I mistook you for a star. I want to learn more." He asked and stated excitedly. Sanji smiled down at Chopper and gently picked him up. "Sure thing." He said cuddling the little reindeer. "As I said it's most likely due to my genetics. You see, as fate would have it my mother's name was Sora. Sora translates to Star which in tern is a child of the sky. My father, Judge was and still is a scientist. While my brothers and I were developing in our mother's womb he performed a procedure. This procedure was to alter our genetics or rather, enhance them. I was later told by my sister that our mother pleaded with our father not to proceed with it as it would take away our humanity. In other words, it would take away any emotions or feelings of pain or love. We would have no fear, no love, no pain, no anything. He wanted us to be ice hearted stone cold emotionless soldiers. He didn't care that we were his children, the only thing that mattered was that we were soldiers without fear of death, or knowing what love is. In one selfless act to protect us, my mother took a toxin to stop the procedure from being successful. However, it only prevented one of us from becoming superhuman." Explained Sanji as he rubbed his belly. "I- Is it you?" Asked Chopper as he looked up with tears in his big round eyes. Sanji smiled at him reassuringly. "Yeah, it's me. It's why Judge said what he did as we were leaving. What you, Luffy, and Carrot believed to be compliments, they were insults." He said which made Chopper's ears droop. "So that's why you were upset?" He asked. The former prince placed a comforting hand on the doctor's head as he continued. "He calls me a failure because I'm human and not superhuman like my sister and brothers. Due to that toxin though, our mother had an untimely death." Said Sanji as he hugged his belly. "To this day, I'm terrified. Terrified of losing myself, losing my humanity, my love, my kindness, my compassion. It terrifies me every single day. Now with a cub or cubs on the way, I'm even more terrified. I don't wanna lose myself Chopper. I don't want to become a cold blooded killer, or an ice hearted monster. My cubs, I can't allow them to see me turn into someone or something else." He said sadly as tears formed, he needed his mate, he was scared. "Hey Sanji, please calm down. This isn't good for your health or that of the cubs." Tried Chopper.
