Phillip had been standing in front of the large, ornate mirror in the hallway for what felt like an eternity. He had been studying his reflection, his own features, ever since he had heard the news earlier that day.

Theodosia Burr Jr., the daughter of Aaron Burr. She was coming for dinner tonight.

Phillip had always been fascinated by the Burr family, ever since he was a child. He had heard countless stories about their bravery and courage during the war, but he had also heard stories of their beauty and grace, and those stories had always stuck with him.

But now, as he stood in front of the mirror, he was suddenly filled with fear and insecurity. He was sure that he wouldn't be good enough for Theodosia, and he felt as if his own family would be put to shame by her presence.

He was so deep in thought that he didn't hear his father's footsteps approaching down the hall.

"Phillip," Alexander said as he stopped in front of his son, "what are you thinking about so deeply? You've been standing in front of this mirror for nearly an hour now."

Phillip quickly snapped back to reality, blushing as he realized he had been caught daydreaming.

"Nothing, pops," he stammered, trying to cover up the truth.

Alexander studied his son's expression for a moment before a smirk crossed his face.

"It's Theodosia, isn't it?" he asked, a mischievous glint in his eye.

Phillip blushed even deeper and dropped his head, embarrassed that his father had guessed his secret.

"It's not like that," he muttered, wondering how his father could have guessed so easily.

But Alexander simply laughed and patted Phillip on the shoulder.

"It's alright, son," he said with a smile. "We all have our little secrets, and I'm sure Theodosia is just as lovely in person as she is in your daydreams."

Eliza, Alexander's wife, had been standing at the other end of the hallway, unnoticed until now. She smiled at her husband's words before turning to Phillip.

"I'm sure you'll make a very good impression tonight, Phillip," she said warmly.

Phillip smiled back, grateful for his parents' support. He knew that tonight was going to be an eventful night, and he could only hope that Theodosia would like him too.
