"How dare you!" The faerie queen's cry echoed through the expansive walls of her majestic castle. The subject in question cowered by her silk-clad feet. The queen of the faeries was not someone you'd want to be around when angry. And just about now, she was furious. The small spy dressed as a maid looked up at the great and terrible queen.
"My lady, I only just found out! Ambrose and I have been monitoring him nonstop. Either Ambrose is a traitor, or the king has deceived us! I know not of any other explanation! Please forgive me." The last sentence was delivered in such a heart wrenchingly pleading tone that the queen pursed her lips. She thought about it.
"No." She delivered the gut wrenching statement in a calm tone. She then continued. "Your execution, as well as that of Ambrose, shall be held tomorrow. Guard! Take Acorn to the dungeon. Send out a notice that Ambrose is a public fugitive. They are to be executed at dawn." After listening carefully to orders, the guard left with the shaking spy. The queen spoke under her breath. "the halfling must die."
