Chapter 26

I caress Ever's face gently, noticing the warm skin, and wiping a tear from her cheek. I turn back to the rest of the room. Kay, lying on the ground, Ash, Lily and Wren standing tensley. I stand up, looking around.

"What was that?!" Wren explodes, and another chill takes over the room.

"My sister can have some problems with her abilities. I'm surprised none of you did... And will you please stop that blasted chill!" I say, losing what calm I had when the cold intensified.

"Wren..." I hear Lily, and glance at her as she hugs Wren.

"I know that you probably hate her, and hate me, but I swear we were just trying to help. It's not something she can control!" I say, wiping my tears furiously. This is no time to cry, I want to make them understand!

"Rina! Rina listen." And suddenly she's no longer hugging Wren, she's holding me by the shoulders, gently wiping my tears. "I understand. This is all so new to us... we're just scared, OK? Where we come from there isn't magic, and now suddenly we have it, and to see someone use their magic like that... it makes us scared that we might become like that... and believe me, that's not a good feeling."

They're scared. They're scared, but none of them actually want to hurt me... or Ever. I get it. I understand... I wipe my tears again, and look up at Lily. "I understand now. I guess we're all just... shaken from that." I glance at Ever, still on the ground. "Here, let's take them to rooms."

Gently lifting Ever, careful to support her head, I motion for them to follow me. Without Ever, nobody else knows their way around the castle. And it's time they learned. If they're going to be the Queen's experiments, they should know how to escape from her.   

A/N: Ok this chapter feels kinda weak to me... let me know what you guys think, K? Sorry I haven't been updating, now that I'm past this I promise I'll be better!
