When we got back, we met up with the four others in Aurora's dorm to work on our history project.
"So, who's saying what?" Rohan spun his pencil around on his finger.
"I can introduce us," Aurora suggested. "And... what are the main parts of the slideshow again?"
"There's the introduction, then the introducing who we picked, which was Malala Yousafzai," I said. "Then we explain how she broke the barrier in history, and why, and how that changed the world. We recap by explaining similar instances and how she inspired them as well."
"Okay, perfect. We can each get one part, then," Lacey said, typing on her computer.
We spent the better part of the next several hours working on our project – including ordering DoorDash. Augustus, Lacey and I worked on the poster board while Rohan, Aurora and Callum finished up the slideshow.
"How was your internship today?" I asked Lacey as I glued a picture of Malala onto the poster board.
"Good," she responded, smiling. "Callum and I were able to watch a real law case."
My jaw dropped. "That's amazing. What was the case about?"
"It was very interesting, actually. Some murder case. They had some witnesses on trial, getting statements. The judge didn't come to a conclusion though. Hopefully we can watch the end of it tomorrow."
"That sounds really fun," Augustus said. I watched him from the corner of my vision as he cut out some pieces of paper.
"It was. Anyway, how was the hospital you two went to?"
"Good," I said, not sure of what else to say.
"Is that it?"
"Well..."
"We went into some patient rooms," Augustus filled in for me. "Took vitals. Practiced on each other." I could practically feel his smirk.
"Is that so?" She raised a brow at me, but I just shrugged.
Thirty minutes later, a big sigh came from Callum's side of the room. "I'm sick of this shit."
"That makes two of us," Lacey mumbled.
"It's Friday, we're almost done with the project, and it's not due until Monday. We should stop for the day," Callum said.
"It's almost 10pm," Rohan added.
"You know what that means..." Callum winked.
Laughing, we all made our way to the main area of the apartment while Callum pulled out his stash of alcohol.
"What game are we playing today?" Aurora asked.
"We're going simple today – just truth or dare."
"You know, sometimes I wonder if you purposely plan out what games we play ahead of time," Augustus said.
