Blue Roses Or Garnet Roses

Every single day from that day, Jisoo has dropped off a blue rose.

There hasn't been a note to accompany it for 2 weeks but I always woke up to a blue rose and I slowly grew to look forward to them.

Jisoo knew I didn't like big gestures or anything expensive spent on me so she came up with small things that made me happy.

Of course she learnt it the hard way but she learnt it nonetheless.

My alarm rings and I jump out of bed and run to the door and I realize how eager I am.

I freeze to a screaming halt and nearly fell over onto the carpet.

I make myself balance and clear my throat before I walk forward and open the door slowly with no expression.

The blue rose isn't there.

I frown and look back forth outside and no one was there. Only trees and the small dysfunctional fountain in the corner.

Could someone have stolen it?

It would be pretty dumb and desperate to go up to my neighbors and—

"Hi Ms.Rodgers!" I say enthusiastically.

The older woman smiles sweetly. "What can I do for you dear?"

"Have you seen a blue rose outside my door? It comes every morning."

She looks confused. "Blue...roses? Do those exist?"

I shake my head. "Sorry to disturb you then!"

She nods with a smile and closes the door gently.

I go to my other neighbor and knock.

The old professor raises an eyebrow. "Yes?"

I swear he sounds like Snape from Harry Potter!

I grin weakly. "Have you...um...seen blue roses? I usually get them—"

He closes the door on my face while I'm talking and I shout, "OKAY FINE! THEN I WON'T GIVE YOU OATMEAL COOKIES ANYMORE FOR CHRISTMAS!"

The door opens as I cross my arms over my chest and the professor says with a sigh, "I didn't see anything Ms.Kim. Please don't cancel the cookies. It gets me through grading my students final exams."

I smile happily. "That's all I was asking for!"

He nods and closes the door more carefully this time.

I sigh. Why didn't they come?

I am slumped forward on the lab station trying to come up with ideas for our next date instead of doing the work Jennie gave me.

I see her shoes come in my downcast line of vision.

"Did you create the data tables and write the analysis like I told you to?"

I look up at her gorgeous face.

How did I not see that she was so beautiful? How could anyone else have turned my head but her?

I grin up at her. "Jennie!"

She glances at my sheet and I quickly cover it but she manages to rip the paper from me.

She raises an eyebrow. "FYI...I would not be interested in going to a circus on a date."

"Give me that," I rip it from her hands and discreetly cross it out.

She sighs and sits down next to me.
