Chapter 2 : Welcome to Emerald Town

The first rays of the sun appeared on the horizon when a white aircraft shaped like a manta ray flew over the cold waters of the North Sea. The aircraft was escorted by two modern fighter planes, which bore the army emblem on their wings. This was also a ring with wings, very similar to that of the Emerald Guardians, but red and with a star in its center.

Inside the white ship was General Dobermann, who was accompanied by a woman with glasses who looked like a scientist and a robot who looked like a nurse, but there was also a fourth passenger who remained hidden in the shadows.

Meanwhile, on Angel Island, Tails and Knuckles were taking me on a tour through the various facilities surrounding the mystical ruins.

The entire area had been converted into a kind of military complex. In addition to the wall that protected the altar, there were also watchtowers, barracks, a hangar and a fortified building from where all operations on the island were controlled.

Knux (walking) : So... You don't remember anything? You have no idea how you got here?

Tikal (walking) : The last thing I remember is that I was floating in the void... while I heard small voices screaming asking me for help. Then... some kind of force took me away from that place and then... I woke up in that room.

Tails (walking) : Voices asking you for help?

As we walked through the complex a group of soldiers jogged past us. These were led by the small but dedicated soldier in the large helmet.

Little soldier (jogging) : One, two, three, four. One two three four.

At that moment the soldiers noticed my presence and began to observe me with curiosity, which made me feel uncomfortable.

Cat Soldier (looking at Tikal) : Hey... And that hottie?

Parrot Soldier (looking at Tikal) : Isn't that the girl the commander was carrying in his arms?

Bear Soldier (looking at Tikal): Is she coming to join our team?

Wolf Soldier (looking at Tikal) : I thought they only recruited men

Little soldier (jogging) : Shut up! The commander's affairs are none of our concern! Keep jogging!

Soldiers (jogging) : Yes, sir!

After we got away from the soldiers, I continued looking around and trying to understand this new world I found myself in. The winged hoop emblem was present almost everywhere, from the soldiers' uniforms to the doors of the largest buildings.

Tikal (walking) : What is this whole place, Mr. Knuckles?

Knux (walking) : Hum... After the last incident we had with the Chaos Emeralds, the different governments of Mobius decided to hide the gems so that they would not fall into the hands of lunatics like Dr. Eggman. Currently, the seven emeralds are protected in different facilities around the world. And as for the Master Emerald... it stayed on Angel Island under my protection, but the eastern government didn't want to have a single guardian looking after it, so they built this military complex and named it Emerald Fort. So... because of my knowledge of the gem and my skills as a warrior, they made me leader of their troops.
