Chapter 4 : The secret garden

After an agitated day at Emerald Town, the girls and I laid down tiredly at our beds and fell into a deep sleep. But that night I couldn't sleep well, since I was hunted by a horrendous nightmare.

In my sleep, I found myself lost in the darkness and all I could see were shadows around me. Even I became a shadow.

Tikal (scared): What is happening? Where am I?

Suddenly, some small voices were sounding far away. It was the voices of the Chao crying and asking for help.

Tikal (scared): What is all this? Where are these screams coming from?

The cries of the Chao was getting stronger with each passing second. Then, the mantle of darkness that was covering the place raised up, reveling a huge amount of cages with the silhouettes of several Chao in their interior.

Tikal (scared): *Panting*

The Chao were screaming and stretching their little arms outside the bars pleading for their freedom out of their prison.

Tikal (getting close to the cages): Wait a moment... I will try to get you out of here.

Without thinking it twice, I took two bars from the cage and tried to separate them so the Chao could escape, but the cage was too resistant.

Tikal (trying to open the cage): No... I can't do it... Eh?

In that moment, some enormous metallic hands appeared up high, and began descending over the cages.

Tikal (scared): No... Get out of here... Don't get any closer!

Despite all my efforts to stop them, those horrible metallic hands grabbed the cages of the Chao and took them to some sort of black void, where they were thrown away without compassion.

Tikal (with tears on her eyes): Nooo!!!

Once in the void, the Chao begin to spin and hit between themselves while their little bodies were contorting and deforming. Finally, all of them were dissolved in the darkness and their remains combine until taking the shape of a black sphere, which had a pulsating red light in its interior.

After finishing the process, the cries died out and the whole place laid still in a complete silence. Then, I fell on my knees in front of the black sphere, with my eyes filled with tears and my heart completely destroyed.

Tikal (crying): No... *sobbing* Why? ... Why are you doing this?

Suddenly, two bright green eyes appeared over the black sphere and the shadows around it took the shape of a creature similar to Chaos, but with a more sinister aspect.

Tikal (scared): *Panting* But... Who are you...

The horrendous creature raised their claws in a threatening manner and began walking towards me.

Tikal (retreating): No... Don't get any closer... Stay away!

The fear invaded me and I tried to run away, but then I found myself surrounded by more of these monsters.

Tikal (very scared): Please... Don't hurt me... Please... please...

In that moment, I felt that everything was lost, so I closed my eyes and only awaited the end. Then, the creatures pounced over me with their sharp claws.

Tikal (opening her eyes): Aaaaaaah!!!

My face was covered in sweat and my heart was throbbing strongly. I was terrified and confused, but then I saw my surroundings and recognised the cozy room that my friends prepared for me last night. The light of the sun was entering through my window and there was a slight smell of toasted bread in the air.
