Chapter 1: The It Girls

Davi's body lied gently in the casket as only 3 people attended the service. Davi's mother, brother and Dani attended. Davi's mother Bayleigh hugged Dani and thanked her for being such a great friend. Davi's brother Luke knew something was up with Dani. He felt inside that Dani was the reason his sister Davi went into the downfall that she did. Davi had only met Dani 6 months prior to her death.

It was a windy Friday morning in August. Davi was with her best friend Angela walking to school. "It's so stupid the first day of school is on a Friday", Angela remarked. Davi laughed. Davi tried to think of something clever to reply to Angela with but she struggled.

Angela and Davi arrived at school where they saw the popular girls Jessica and Dani trying to hide their vapes. "They're such trash", Angela said but Davi cut Angela off.

"We're in high school now Angela, we can't be the girls who fade away. This is the time to make our mark.", Davi said.

"What do you mean?", Angela asked confused.

Davi stormed after Dani and Jessica as they made their way to the girls bathroom. Dani and Jessica were a grade ahead of Davi and Angela being sophomores and the most popular girls of their grade.

"Hey Dani! Do you and Jessica want to come to a sleepover at my house tonight? My mom won't be home and she'll probably leave us money for pizza", Davi asked with a wide smile on her face.

"Aren't you Daviana Donato? The freshman?", Jessica asked while chuckling.

"Yeah?", Davi asked puzzled at why Jessica was laughing at her.

"Does your mom have alcohol?", Dani asked while shushing Jessica from laughing.

"Just wine. She doesn't drink much really.", Davi replied.

"That'll work. Can we bring boys over?", Dani asked smiling at Jessica.

"I don't know, they'd have to sneak in. We have a doorbell camera. My brother won't mind since he sneaks girls over all the time", Davi replied.

"Your brother is Luke Donato right?", Jessica asked.

Davi nodded and the two girls got excited.

"Maybe he'll give us free weed if one of us fucks him", Jessica chucked telling Dani.

Davi was taken aback by that statement not knowing her brother sold weed or that Jessica even knew who he was.

"Here's my number, My snapchat got device banned so text me your addy and we'll be there around 9.", Dani said while handing Davi her phone.

Davi walked out of the bathroom and made a thumbs up to Angela. However, Angela was skeptical. Angela knew deep down that Jessica and Dani were in with the bad crowd.

"Why do you want to hang out with the whores of the sophomore class?", Angela asked upset.

"Don't call them whores. You can't call girls whores when you repost all those feminist posts on Instagram.", Davi said angrily.

"Well count me out. You can have fun with the skanks by yourself.", Angela said while storming away.

After a boring 7 hour day at school, Davi was too excited for her sleepover with the popular girls to even care that she was walking home alone. Davi's mother Bayleigh said she was off for a graveyard shift at the hospital.

"I left 20 for pizza on the dinner table. Be good. No boys.", Bayleigh told her with a serious look in her eyes.

Luke came out of his bedroom and the smell of marijuana came out with him.

"Can you even try to hide you smoke that shit from me? I'm tired of smelling it everytime I see you", Bayleigh said rolling her eyes.

"Are you for real letting Angela stay the night? I was gonna have Josh and Monte over and they think she's creepy.", Luke said annoyed.
