It's been raining for hours. My parents have been in my room, trying to create small talk, get our minds off of the situation at hand. Of course, it's not working, they get choked up after just a few words. I know they're not going to leave, no matter what.
They try to act like everything's going to be alright, but I can't stand their fake masks any longer. Thoughts spin like a tornado in my mind.
They're waiting. Waiting so they can be right by my side when I...
No, stop, you can't think like this. You have to live, for your parents.
Quit lying to yourself. There's no hope for you. Even your parents know it.
Augustus. I want to see him. It's time, Augustus. I'm coming for you.
I try with all that I've got left to say my parents' names, but all that comes out is nothing more than a squeak. They slowly walk over to my bed, and hold me in their arms. I'm tired of fighting, all I want is the pain to be gone. Their comforting arms tell me that they understand. I slowly close my eyes, and pretend that I'm just going to sleep.

Suddenly, sweet, pure air fills my lungs and my body is completely pain free. I open my eyes, and all I see is white. A warm, strong hand takes my hand, our fingers weaving together. I turn around, and bright blue eyes stare into mine, the man's head is glowing in a healthy sort of way.
"I'm here, Hazel Grace," Augustus Waters says in his smooth voice that makes my stomach flutter, "I've been waiting for you."
