It was the smell of a cigarette and old gas hitting Mingi’s nostrils as he was going outside. He was not smoking himself but he needed a minute to breathe. Everyone was busy inside, his dad taking on phone call after phone call and this Yunho was acting annoyingly calm now. Just staring at his phone, sitting on one of the armchairs with crossed legs and gifting him a poisoned look from time to time. Mingi was annoyed, even more considering that he needed to wear this fucking suit now. It was fitting well yes, but he couldn’t sit or move the way he wanted and he really wanted to just go to bed. Like a dumb child dreaming the reality away or pretending that nothing could happen to him if he pull a blanket over his head.
Maybe it was stupid, but he really only realized the magnitude of this situation as he saw his dad bringing out the rings and laying them on the table before them.
“This is so fucking stupid”, he was saying to himself, biting his lip for so long now that it was swollen and red. Glazing at one of the people standing before the ashtray and walking over to them. Mingi really didn't smoke. He quit two years ago. But nobody would say something against one before telling the world that he was marrying a complete stranger.
“Thank you so much”, he was saying, after the old gentleman gifted him one and let his lighter flame up for him to light it. A few breathes and he was walking back to his spot again, grabbing his phone from his pocket.
But he couldn’t answer a message or even read one, as the devil himself gifted him his accompany. Mingi was looking to the side, to see Yunho coming outside and looking at him even more arrogant than ever. Sighing as he was putting his phone back in his pocket.
“You smoke?”, Yunho was asking, causing Mingi to drag on his cigarette even longer than he needed.
“Scared it might smell bad when you need to kiss me?”, he teased, his tone so bored and uninterested that it almost lost on sarcasm. Yunho was not having it, but at the same time he was not biting back like he used to. With slow steps he was walking past him, leaning against the wall and crossing his arms before his chest - Mingi dragging on his cigarette and feeling the slight burn and warm feeling of the smoke in his lung. He kinda needed it, but he definitely didn’t miss the taste of this.
“Can we be serious for a minute?”, he was asking, it kinda felt like he was having a hard time saying it. It came low over his lips, as if he needed to press every single word out. Mingi was not looking at him, but at the same time it was kinda the first time he had the feeling that they both were on one page here.
They both knew, this is going to be serious in only an hour.
People everywhere, they would need to smile and tell everyone how much they enjoy letting them know the big knews. His life, his freedom and everything he worked on would be over in a minute. The moment the world knew that he was getting married he would become a face for this stupid company, everything would be different. He would need to go to business dinner, events, showing himself with this idiot so the world believed their lie in the end…
“To be honest, I prefer not to”, Mingi was feeling how the seriousness caught up to him, and the only thing he knew how to deal with this, was making a joke out of it, “if I don’t laugh about it, I would probably kill myself before you could tell anyone that you are my future husband”, he was being sarcastic, seeing how his reaction caused Yunho to bite down his teeth again.
What? Did he really think he would stay here and talk about feelings with him?
“You really are like a dumb child”, “Get used to it, love. You will be married to me in a minute”, Mingi was barking back, as he was stepping out the cigarette and walking past him, to get inside.
