~·~·~Bina's POV~·~·~

The carriage ride was bumpy. I had eventually found out that we were going to Market. It was a lively place full of different food and goodies. I was excited. It had been a while since I had been to Market. Princesses didn't usually go anyway, and my family was especially not going to let me go after my accident. I glanced at Caiden, and I smiled lightly. He was staring out the window and had this content look on his face that just warmed my heart.

We were now on our way to rescue Albina. Finally, we had found the counterspell to the one that was placed on her and the town she was in. And once we rescued her, and restored her memory, we would convince her to lead our army.

I really did love Caiden. He was sweet, caring, and just made me want to melt. I sighed and scooted over to snuggle up with him. The bumping of the carriage and Caiden's gentle fingers running through my hair relaxed me, and slowly, I drifted to sleep.

My eyes opened, and I shot up. Yelling was all around me. I felt a hand wrap around my arm, and I turned my head to search for the person. In the smoke, I could barely make out Caiden's beautiful hazel eyes. I sighed in relief. He was okay. But he looked very worried.

"Caiden, what's going on?" I asked him. He answered me while quickly helping me out of the carriage.

"The carriage is being attacked," he replied quietly. "We have to run, Belina." I nodded. He took my hand and we took off. But it wasn't long before one of the attackers tackled Caiden and I to the ground. I screamed as the man punched Caiden. I saw his eyes roll to the back of his head and I whimpered before looking up at the man. He began walking towards me and I yelped. I slowly started dragging myself backwards trying to escape him. I would have stood and ran, but I had hurt my ankle when I fell.

I screamed for help as the man got closer. I didn't hear anything, though, so I looked around. What I saw made my blood turn cold. The carriage was turned on its side and engulfed in flames. The black smoke clogged the air, making every breath burn with pain. I could see the bodies of our guards on the ground positioned at unnatural angles. A sob escaped my lips as I slowly turned my head towards the horrible man.

"Why?" I choked out. "Why would you do this?"

He just continued staring at me. Now anger burned in me. How could such a deed be done for no reason? There had to be a reason. And if there wasn't, then this dirtbag and his friends needed to go the deepest, darkest pit of Hell.

"Tell me now!" I screamed at him. "Why did you do this?"

He narrowed his eyes at me before motioning his men forward.

"Load her up in the carriage. Make sure you tie her up and gag her." He said and then turned toward Caiden who still lied motionless on the ground. "Just kill this one."

My heart froze. Before I even realized what I was doing I had leaped forward and covered his body with mine. They would have to kill me too.
