The teens ended up spending the night in the bed of the truck. The sunlight woke them pretty early and they were immediately back on the road to head to Charleston. The remainder of the ride went by pretty quickly and soon they made it to the city. Melody's eyes went wide as she looked out the window. The last time she was here was when she was a toddler and she has no memory of it. They passed by houses bigger than any in the Outerbanks. They were so beautiful and the architecture had so much character.

"Yea, they're fancy people." Kie stated, talking about the Limbrey's. She had googled the family to try and do a background check. "They've had like three governors in the family. They've run Charleston for, like, 300 years."

"These Kooks make our Kooks look like Pogues." JJ stated, in awe of all the gigantic houses just like Melody. Pope's truck squeaked as he pulled over to the side of the road and put the truck in park.

Melody looked past JJ and gazed up at the big house, nerves bubbling in her stomach. It was three stories tall and every floor had massive balconies stretching from one end of the house to the other. It had a Louisiana feel to it, for sure. "You sure this is the place, Pope?"

The other teens gazed apprehensively out the window too. "Pretty sure." Pope stated nervously.

"All right." JJ said as he opened the door and hopped out, stretching his hand out for Melody to grab. She held onto his warm hand and hopped out of the truck. Kie immediately following and shutting the door. "Fat City, for sure." He added, looking up at the massive house.

Pope moved around to the other side of the truck and stood beside the teens. He lifted the invitation to double check the address. "Twenty-seven King Street."

Their eyes landed on the gate wrapping around the house. It was tall and black with different sized long spikes at the top. Melody gulped nervously.

"Talk about home security. Are those spikes to keep people out?"

Melody looked at her boyfriend, a grimace on her face. "No. They were to keep people in." She informed him.

"The slave quarters are over there." Pope stated. Her eyes flitted over to the boy, noticing the uncomfortable look in he had at the prospect.

Melody clapped her hands once and shoved her nervousness to the back of her mind. "Let's get this show on the road."

They headed their way to the front door and stayed back a little bit to let Pope be the one to knock on the door. He walked up and pulled the metal ring on the lion shaped door knocker and banged it a few times. He stepped back to stand on the other side of JJ. "You think that was too much?"

"It echoed the entire house. That's for sure. So they definitely heard it." JJ assured him.

"Maybe nobody's home." Kie stated. Pope leaned forward to knock a couple more times and the door opened in the middle of his knocks. A middle aged man opened the door and looked at all of the teens. His eyes landed on Pope as he licked his lips in entertainment. He crossed his arms and pointed at Pope. "You must be Pope."
