Maya's P.O.V
As I walked to find my first period, I got a little lost. Suddenly, I bumped into someone, knocking their book out of their hand. I bent down and picked it up, then stood up to see a slim, fit girl with brown hair.

"Hey, sorry I bumped into you. Here's your book," I said nervously.
The girl chuckled.
"It's fine. I don't think I've seen you here before, or around the school. Are you new?" she asked curiously.

"Yes, I'm Maya. What about you?" I said.
"I'm Cana. What's your first period?" She asked, pointing at my schedule.
I handed her my schedule and she smiled.
"You have the same periods as me. Alright, you have Ms. Olietta's first period. Follow me," she said, handing me my schedule back.

Following Cana, we talked and got to know each other. We had a lot in common.
"So, after our classes, do you want to sit with me and my friends at lunch?" she asked.
"Sure, why not," I said, smiling.
"Alright, we're here," she said, walking to the door with me following behind her.

When we got inside, there were already a few students sitting down.
"Good morning, girls," a light purple-haired woman said to us as she was sitting at her desk.
"Good morning, Ms. Olietta," Cana said as she took her seat.

"Uhm, young one, are you new here?" Ms. Olietta asked, grabbing a clipboard.
"Y-yes, ma'am," I said, feeling nervous.
"Oh, please call me Ms. Olietta. What's your name, young one?" she asked, looking at her clipboard.
"Oh, right. Uhm, Maya.. Pierce," I said, with a nervous smile.
"Okay. Here you are. It's so nice to meet you. I've heard a lot from your aunt. Hehe. As for your seat, uhm..." She looked around the classroom for an empty seat.

While Ms. Olietta and I were talking, Cana was listening to the whole conversation about me and my seat. When Ms. Olietta was looking for a seat for me, Cana raised her hand and pointed to a seat next to her. Ms. Olietta only smiled at Cana then turned to me.

"You'll be sitting next to Cana for the rest of the school year," she said, putting a book on my desk.
"Okay, thank you," I said, walking over to Cana.
As I walked over to her, she smirked at me.
"Finally, I have a new partner. I wonder what made Ms. Olietta have you sit here with me," she said in a mischievous tone.

"Oh, stop it, Cana," I said, laughing. I put my backpack down and sat in the seat next to her. We started talking about random things until two more students came into the classroom. Loke and a blonde-haired girl sat in front of us. I looked up and saw them.

"Loke?" I said, looking at him. He turned to face me. "Hey, Maya, right? I didn't know you had this period?" he said, chuckling.
"Do you know him?" Cana asked.
"Do you know her?" the blonde girl asked at the same time. They exchanged glances.
"Well...you see..." I began.

I then explained to them what had happened earlier in the hallway. Cana asked with a giggle, "Hahaha you guys were singing again?"
"Well, I thought it was fun. Everyone was singing and dancing," I replied with a laugh, "You don't get to see that everywhere."
"Well, it's nice to meet you. I'm Lucy. What's your name?" Lucy asked.
"Maya. It's nice to meet you," I said with a smile.

After that, all four of us talked and had fun together until three boys and two girls walked into the classroom. Cana said, annoyed and rolling her eyes, "Ugh, my gosh..."
"What?" I asked, confused.
"You see that girl with the strawberry blonde hair?" Lucy asked me while pointing at the girl.
"Yeah, I see her," I said.

Lucy eyed the girl with strawberry blonde hair and said, "That's Veronica Miller, the 'mean popular girl' around here. Her dad owns a business and is away from home a lot and only comes for a few days and then leaves, and her mom is a doctor at Magnolia Hospital."
"So basically they are like rich and give her whatever she wants..." I said as I raised my eyebrow.

"Yeah basically.. Not to mention, she's the captain of the cheerleading team." Lucy said as she played with her pen rolling her eyes at Veronica.
"That's the reason why I don't like having her sitting next to me," Cana said in a sarcastic tone.

Loke leaned back in his chair and added, "Take our advice and stay away from her. She'll try everything to bring you down." I grabbed my books, as class was about to start, and replied, "Okay."

Ms. Olietta told the classroom, "Take your seats. Class is about to start!"
While I was talking to Cana before everyone sat down, Veronica approached me with the same group of kids. "Uhm, this is my seat. Can you move?" she said in a mean, sarcastic tone.

I replied in a friendly manner, "Oh, the teacher placed me here. I don't know where she moved you, but you can ask her before class starts."
Veronica angrily retorted, "No, I'm not moving. Do you know who my father is? And who do you think you are, telling me where my seat is? So get up and get out of my seat!"

I saw what was going on between Veronica and Maya and walked up to them to sort out the situation.
"What's going on here? Class is about to start," I said, confused.
"She's in my seat and won't move!" Veronica yelled.
"Ah, I had to move you and some of the other students away from each other. That's the new girl," I explained to them.

I placed them in empty seats, away from each other. Then, I walked to the front.
"This is where you will be sitting for the rest of the school year. Veronica, you will sit in the front, next to Beatrice. You'll be able to see the board from there. All right. Now, let's get started on this lesson." I said, walking up to the board.

Maya's P.O.V.

The bell rang and class had ended, so we packed up our things.
"Oh, and we have homework; come up to the front to get it," Ms. Olietta said, handing it out. After getting our papers, we walked out and started laughing.

"Oh my god, did you see Veronica's face when Ms. Olietta put her in the front next to Beatrice!" Cana said, holding her stomach and laughing.
"Never in my life have I seen anything like that in front of me!" I said, wiping my eyes.
We calmed down and started walking to our second period. Along the way, we saw Natsu walking to second.

"Oh hey, Natsu!" I said, waving at him.
"Hey, Maya. Ready for second?" He said, walking next to me and getting close again.
Cana just smirked at us.
"Well, I'll let you guys go ahead to second. I'm going to the bathroom; I'll meet you guys there," Cana said, running off.
"Okay!" I said, continuing walking with Natsu.
