I had been sleeping in the passenger seat of my auntie's car, having a really good nap, when I heard her say, "Hey Maya, wake up, we're almost there." She had a mischievous giggle on her face as I woke up with a pout.

That was my aunt Charlotte, but she prefers me to call her by her nickname, Cherry. She's funny and smart, and one thing that I find weird is that she acts like a teenager, even though she's 29. Annoyed, I asked her, "Why couldn't I have slept until we got there?"

She excitedly replied, "Because I wanted to have a talk with my niece about moving here to Magnolia with me and starting school soon at Fairy Tail High."

Hi! My name is Maya Pierce. I had just become a sophomore in high school when I moved to Magnolia with my Aunt Cherry. There was a situation with my mom that caused Aunt Cherry to become my legal guardian and take me to live with her in Magnolia.

I leaned back in my chair, reading my book, when Aunt Cherry said, "What is there to talk about?" I said unamused.
"Come on, Maya, it's gonna be fun. You'll thank me later!" Fear crept into my voice as I asked, "What's so special about this high school I'm going to Aunt Cherry? What if it's just the same back at home?"

She smiled reassuringly and said, "Now, Maya, it's not like that. This high school is nothing like Norman High. This school is better; I even went here when I was fifteen. Trust me when I say this: it's nothing like what you experienced back at home."

(The picture above is what her aunt looks like)

We pulled into the driveway and I was still thinking about what Auntie had said. I sighed as I looked at the house through the car window, hoping I wouldn't regret my decision. "Okay, I'll give it a shot," I said, smiling at Aunt Cherry. We both burst out laughing until we got to her house, which was not what I had expected.

Gathering my things from the car was a struggle, but Aunt Cherry helped me get them out. "You alright?" she asked, panting a bit. "Yeah, I'm alright," I replied, catching my breath. Once everything was out of the car, I looked at the house again. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and followed Aunt Cherry to the front door of the two-story house, carrying some of my bags. After a few moments of staring off into space, I finally went inside and found my bedroom.

(I'll show you the rest of her room and the house on the next page.)

I gasped in awe at the sight of my new room. It was beautiful, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. "Wow," I said to myself. "This is amazing. Let me go put my stuff up." As I began to organize my items, I noticed some of my things had already been put away. I quickly packed away the rest and went downstairs to find my aunt, Cherry, eating her strawberries.

"Hey Auntie," I said, sitting down. "I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Oh hey, what's up?" she said, putting her phone down.
