3rd Person POV

The atmosphere of Cherryvile National High has drastically shifted from calm and lively to gloomy and fearful ever since the return and change of Alex and his demeanor.

Gone was the once warm and welcoming smile on his face, now replaced with a blank and apathetic gaze. His aura radiating anger and resentment, his gentleness and care shattered and replaced with cold and cruelty.

The many students who treated him wrongly over a false rumor tried to find light within the depth if his cold and blackened heart only to find nothing and receive a glare and a threat that sends a shiver of fear down their spines.

But among those who were adjusting to their current predicament, Ashley was affected the most. Her heart heavy with regrets and remorse, she longs to reconcile and give Alex the love and care that he rightfully deserves. Memories of her misunderstanding and unfairness towards Alex flow through her head as a wicked reminder of her disloyalty and unfaithfulness.

She reminisced on her past memories with her Alex, the Alex that she grew close with and loved. Her head gave her the rest that she desperately needed, the memories of her past mistreatments shifted to the moments that she holds dear to her heart. As memories of her cherished moments with Alex run through her mind, she feels her heart skip a beat.

Ashley felt her face heat up with intense warmth as a crimson red blush appears on her face. She can't help but admire Alex's cute and flawless face, she wants to touch and caress him so badly. She loved his shy and bashful nature, wanting to keep him close to her. Her heart beating faster as emotions flow through her wildly. She comes into a realization that she loves him, she held her chest as her heart beats rapidly in perfect sequence to the memories that play in her mind.

But those feelings quickly shifted to that of remorse and overwhelming guilt as her mind slowly dwells on the memories of her unjust treatment towards Alex. The face he made when he begged her to stop while she continues to beat him while ignoring his pleas for mercy, it filled her with immense guilt knowing that among the many students who wrongfully mistreated him she was the one who did the most damage to Alex.

She wished that she didn't blindly believed in those rumors without proper investigation. If she did then the bond between her and Alex would have remain unchanged but it is far too late for that, the chances of redemption are extremely slim as Alex made it his priority to avoid her whenever she approaches, this made her grow desperate as she longs for his presence and most probably his affection.

Ashley approaches Alex with a pleading expression plastered all over her face as she looks at him with longing and desperation. She tugged his sleeve and said in a raspy voice.

"Alex, we need to talk, please." Ashley pleads for Alex to cooperate, her voice raspy and dry from the constant weeping and sobbing.

"Make it quick Ashley, I don't have time to waste so better make it fast." Alex replied with a cold and uninterested tone.

Ashley on the other hand is overjoyed seeing that Alex is willing to listen to her pleas, she tries to contain her emotions as she held his arm tightly.

"Alex, I know things haven't been going well between us and...." Ashely paused as she tries to catch her breath. The tension is very overwhelming for her but she persisted wanting to reconcile and restore the bond between them.

"I....I want to say that I'm sorry..." Ashley said as she lowers her head, it took her a lot of her willpower to mutter out that phrase.

"I'm sorry for not being there for you, I know you have every right to be mad at me and I accept it completely. I was a complete idiot for not listening to you, and I regret it so much......" Ashley paused once again, wiping her tears of her face, she sniffles as the emotions inside her stir and flow wildly.

She then caresses his right cheek with her thumb softly rubbing his eyepatch feeling the irreversible damage done to him. She then looks at him with eyes filled with longing and desperation.

"I miss you Alex...please...come back to me....." Ashley muttered weakly as the tension from the atmosphere around them and her emotional turmoil overwhelm her, it made her feel pathetic like what Alex felt for the past 4 months of solitude and pain.

Alex on the other hand looked at her blankly while she tries to maintain her composure. He then held her hand that was still caressing his cheek as he looks at her.

"Ashley......" Alex said quietly as he holds her hand and rubbing his thumb on her palm. Ashley was taken back by the gesture but slowly melted into affection, yearning to feel his affection as she feel his thumb gently rubbing against her palm in a calming manner.

"You disgust me....." He said with a cruel tone as he applies pressure to Ashley's wrist slowly crushing it with his nails digging into her flesh.

"A-Alex, what are you-" Ashley exclaimed as the pain from his grip snapped her out of her affected state.

"Did you really think that your poorly made apology would do you any good?" Alex said with an unusually calm tone that contains malice. His grip on her wrist slightly tightening.

"Alex...please..." Ashley said in pain as she held his hand that was gripping her wrist tightly.

"Oh Ashley, your unbearably naive to think that I would forgive you that easily after all the thing you have done to me." Alex mocked Ashley's heartfelt apology as he glares at her with immense hate.

"You're right about one thing, and that is you being a moron. Your blind and pathetic to the truth, and ever since you made my life here a living hell....." Alex then pulled her closer as her remorseful and guilt-ridden eyes met his face filled with anger and hatred.

"I come to a conclusion to accept the fact that everything we used to have together is not even worth saving in the first place." Alex whispered into her ear, he can feel his cheek getting moist from her tears, he smiled sadistically as he releases his grip on her wrist.

"B-but...Alex.. I-" Ashley muttered as tears flow freely down her face as she tries to hold him close, but Alex harshly pushed her off turning down her longing embrace.

"But what? Am I wrong though? You believed in Adam, the worst scum of the century and not me, your supposedly closest friend." Alex then turned to walk away, Ashley then held his arm tightly not wanting to let him go.

"Alex....please.... I'm sorry. Don't leave me...please..." Ashley desperately begged as tears flow down her cheeks.

Ashley held his arm tightly as crystal clear tears flow down her face, this in turn infuriates Alex making him forcefully pull his arm away from her hold.

"Don't even think about it Pendleton. You are sorry about nothing!" Alex said in a cruel tone as he turns to walk away.

Ashley was then left there standing silently with a heartbroken expression as tears flow down her face. The cruel and harsh words of Alex pierced her heart as she slowly realized the ever growing gap between her and Alex.
