Strange New Friend

Boimlers Pov:

After I helped (l/n) out with her shelving unit, I craw into my bunk which I shared with Mariner; she had the top bunk, and I had the bottom bunk. I hear Teni and Rutherford craw into their bunks shortly after because of their quiet whispering with one another. After a short while once they entered their bunks, the lights went off in the hallway; telling us it was lights out and to be quiet. Hearing the quiet whispering of the warp core always acted like a lullaby to me. After  a few moments I quietly fell asleep.

-(l/n) pov-

The first sleep in a new place is always difficult, so I kept tossing and turning from restlessness. The beds were about the size of a twin-sized bed but comfortable, they gave you your own personal blanket, and a pillow that couldn't move. I couldn't help but keep wanting to open my eyes as if someone was watching me, like a ghost or something. But I kept my eyes closed and turned to face the wall of my bunk, probably not the best idea but it's the comfortable side when sleeping. I finally managed to close my eyes to get some sleep before 05:00 when I have to wake up.

I opened my eyes to find myself in a white void with nothing to see for miles, in every direction I looked. I was in my Star Fleet uniform, instead of my tank top and black shorts they gave us to sleep in. I started wondering a bit to see if it led to anything, but I kicked a small box that was right by my feet in the process. I picked up the box, it was about the size of my palm; with a little yellow bow tied around it. I looked around before untying the bow to open the box in case someone was watching me but saw nothing inside the box when I opened it. I put the box back down and kept walking before kicking the box again. I looked behind me to see the box was no longer where I placed it, and looked down to find it at my feet.

"I could have sworn I put you down there." I mumble underneath my breath and look back at the original spot.

I shrugged my shoulders ignoring the box this time and started walking away from it. I kept looking around to see if anything could be around, but it was still the same; nothing to be seen for miles. I suddenly heard a giggling by my feet, so I looked down to my left: nothing was there; I looked down to my right: the same box was right next to me. I sigh and pick the box up and bring it to my eye level.

"What in the world?" I looked around again before opening the box to see a gold commutation badge; it was the size of mine that was pinned to my shirt, but mine was silver.

I take the badge out of its box to hold it. "I could've sworn that nothing was in the box when I checked." I placed the box down to get a better feeling and look of the badge but when I looked back at my hand, the badge was gone. I looked around like a fool trying to see if I dropped it, but I couldn't find it. "weird" I saw as continued walking.

"what's weirder a gold badge just vanishing into thin air or having the same badge talk to you?" I heard a random voice speaking behind me, so I looked behind me to see the golden badge floating with arms and legs talking to me.

"Well... it's not every day that a Star Fleet badge talks to you." I say with a small smile on my face. The gold badge smiles and flies around me landing on my shoulder. "you're new to the Cerritos, aren't you?" The gold badge speaks to me before sitting on my shoulder. "Yeah, I am actually... how did you know?" I reply looking down at my shoulder. "I know almost anything, and I mean anything! What's your name by the way?" The gold badge kicks their feet while they dangle over my shoulder.

"I'm (f/n) (l/n); eigen in the commander division, what about you?" I ask the badge as he starts to fly around me and lands on my hand. "Names Badgey new friend." Badgey stands on my hand giving me a big smile, so I return one as well. "So, you're my new friend?" I say while looking at him giving my head a tilt. "Yes ma'am, I'll be your friend forever!" Badge replied before he grew about the size of my torso. He flies around and then stops in front of me. "Until next time new friend" he says, and before I reply he taps my forehead causing me to wake up.

I woke up in my bunk laying on my back instead of my side and stayed still for bit in silence before I got up to shower. I walk into the sonic show after removing clothes and hang my towel on the little divider before turning it on. I keep thinking about the "dream" I had, maybe it's best to keep it to myself for now until I get closer with everyone. I exit the shower with my towel around my body, and see Boimler poking Mariner awake. When I'm right behind Boimler Mariner pushes him away causing him to fall backwards and land against me. Thankfully I have reflexes so I manage to catch him before I fall too. You can hear his shaking breath as if the light just flashed before his eyes.

"You ok Boimler?" I say looking down at him since his head was on my shoulder. "Yeah, I'm fine, thanks for catching me by the way; I could have hurt my back" replies and stands up straight and begins to keep waking up Mariner.

"Wake up Mariner, we're goanna be late for commander Randoms meeting about the mission!" Boimler basically almost screamed still trying to wake her up.

I giggle as he keeps trying to wake her up, I make my way to my bunk and begin to get ready and put on my Star Fleet uniform. Mariner finally gets up and starts to get ready, complaining that she was woken up. I finished getting ready and sat on my bunk to wait for Mariner and Boimler since we had a mission today, and since they were taking longer than expected I cleaned up and folded my blanket to hear my pad buzz and the screen lit up. I pick up my pad to wonder what made it go off, but after looking at a blank screen I suddenly see a tiny gold badge in the corner, it starts to form eyes, mouth, arms, and legs. I stare at it moving around my screen and smile while it waves to me and flies around the screen. My new best friend, badgey.
