OCTOBER BEGAN TO roll in and the trees began to turn all shades of orange, the air was cool and the smell of fresh coffee and pastries lingered in the college campus.
It had been a month since that night. Dalton, Stella, Lizzie and Chris had all began their journeys to returning to a normal life, one that never included demons and parallel realities.
Chris had moved back into Daltons dorm once again, to live closer to her now girlfriend, Lizzie Flores. The four regularly rotating rooms to sleep with their significant other.
This morning for example, Stella rolled over in her boyfriends arms and peered up at his face, the autumn sun shining down on his face as his chest rose and fell with paced breaths.
Stella knew it was time for them to get up so she began gently running her hands through Daltons long hair in order to wake the boy.
"Hmph" he grumbled as he leaned into her touch, pulling her closer as the dorm had become rather cold during the night. "Time to get up." She whispered softly, lowering her hands to the side of his face and placing a kiss on his jawline before pushing back and getting out of bed, slipping her feet into her slippers to avoid contact with the cold floor. Dalton groaned behind her as the cold air hit his skin that was previously blocked by his girlfriend. Stella leant over and kissed his temple before shaking him one last time, telling him to wake up and leaving to her dorm in order to get ready for the day.
Waving a quick yet quiet 'hello' to Chris who was returning to her dorm from a cosy night with her girlfriend. Stella got ready for the day with her best friend, one thing they always did together no matter what. Stella began her soft makeup routine as Lizzie began to pick out an outfit consisting of a tan knitted dress with thin black tights and boots. Stella threw on her grey pleated skirt, a red jumper and tights with a black baker boy hat over her freshly done plaits. Autumn was the best season to dress for.
The two left the dorm, slipping their coats on and meeting their partners in the hallway. They accompanied each other down to the local café where they sat and drank coffee and ate breakfast, Dalton regularly leaning his head on his girlfriends shoulder or placing his hand on her thigh. Ever since that might Dalton had let himself become more touchy, more open and a lot more confident with the people he loved and his friends couldn't be more happy to see it.
They finished and paid before heading off to their separate lessons, Dalton walking Stella to hers and kissing her head as boys walked past. He would never admit to himself that he was the jealous type, but he was and there was no doubt about it. Stella often got approached by boys and girls that she simply had no interest in, she was a pretty girl but there was no one like Dalton, she didn't notice how people admired her as she was way too busy admiring him.
He pulled her into a quick kiss as they neared her classroom before he sped off to his class. The four had made friends for life and they were going to look after each other no matter what.
