"During hard times, true friends become pillars of strength and never let you face your battles alone."

(Kiara's POV)

After what felt like centuries, we finally arrived at John B's house. In the middle of walking there we felt the warmth of car headlights on our backs and turned around in fear, only to see Pope's dad driving up to us at full speed.

He told us that he would feel better if he brought us to John B's house so we reluctantly got in the car and he drove one block and dropped us off at John B's house. We thanked him and stood at the front door, ringing the door bell.

"Hey guys," Big John greeted, moving aside to let us in.

"Hi, Big John," JJ beamed running into the house.

"John B's in his room, just knock before going in. He seemed a little off," he warned and wondered off.

We walked down the narrow hall to the door of John B's room. Before I was able to knock like a normal person, JJ started banging on the door like a mad man.

"SBI, OPEN UP!" JJ hollered and Pope jumped at the sudden noise.

"Does it kill you to be normal for once," Pope grunted and JJ laughed in his face.

"Hey," John B said as he opened the door letting the three of us in.

"Here's the sour patch," I offered him the candy.

He took the small bag and sat on his bed and I sat next to him while Pope did his crossword puzzles and JJ started playing some game on his phone.

"So what's going on?" I asked, wanting to know what was wrong.

"Well, you know me and Sarah just got back from dinner," he started and I nodded for him to go on. "Yeah, well we sorta broke up."

My jaw dropped to the floor at the reveal. This was bad news. All John B thought about was Sarah and I think we all unfortunately know how he was freshman year. Despite the growth I was still very scared. This could be the end of the world as we know it. I tried to prepare myself mentally so I could be ready for all hell to break loose.

"What happened? Are you alright?" Pope gasped, holding a hand over his mouth.

"I'm actually doing much better than I thought I would be," he clarified and me and Pope exchanged looks of doubt.

"Guys, I promise. We just had a talk about our future and Sarah thought it'd be better if we took a break. I told her I understand and that's where we are right now."

I was beyond shocked at what I was hearing. Not only because never in a million years did I think they would break up, but I never thought John B would be so calm about it. It was eerie to say the least.

"Well just know that we'll always be here if you need to rant or take your mind off it," I comforted, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Thanks," he obviously faked a smile. "I need to use the bathroom really quick."

John B got off the bed and entered the bathroom connected to his room, leaving the three of us in here to recollect our thoughts.

"Are none of you scared by how calm he's acting??" I shockingly questioned.

"John B has matured you know," JJ said knowingly and I threw some popcorn at him.

"Of course, I'm not saying he hasn't. It's just that he just got out of a 3 year relationship and it is okay to be a wreck after that. It's part of the recovery process," I explained and JJ shrugged.
