SIENNA'S POV

Everywhere l looked there was fighting. The sound of swords angrily clashing together announced that the battle was far from over. I saw the faces of people that I cared about getting struck down, and there was nothing that I could do about it. The tears that I didn't realize I had been shedding were streaming down my face - and like the battle - weren't going to be stopping anytime soon. Glancing behind, I saw Devon bravely fighting to keep me safe, but I knew it was a lost cause. I was the only one that could save everybody, and I just wasn't strong enough. They had put their faith in the wrong person, and because of that we were all going to die.

"So we meet again."

I looked up to find the source of the voice, but before I reached it I knew who it was. That smooth, clear voice that clearly rang of evil. Netiri. She looked at me with her red eyes glowing triumphantly, and her mouth twisted into a sardonic smirk.

"I can't believe you thought you would stand a chance against me," she sneered. She raised on finger and pointed it to me. I closed my eyes, knowing what was coming. "I'm really going to enjoy destroying you." I squeezed my eyes shut tighter waiting for the fatal blow, but it never came. I opened my eyes again and found Netiri's eyes trained on something behind me, and my eyes widened as I realized what she was looking at. I quickly stepped in front of him, blocking him from her view.

"You leave him alone!" I shouted angrily. "This is between you and me."

"You really think I care about that?" Netiri asked coldly, with a small laugh in her voice. "Nothing would bring me greater pleasure than to make you watch the love of your life die before you do." She pointed her finger straight at Devon, and I watched in horror as the red beams shot out towards him. Without thinking, I began muttering and green beams shot out to block Netiri's attack. They made it, but barely.

Netiri scowled dangerously. "You can't beat me, so why try?" Before she had even finished speaking, more red beams shot out towards Devon, and once again I managed to block them. I had managed to block two measly spells, and I could already feel the effect that it had on my body. I could feel my energy beginning to drain out of me.

Not leaving me any chance to recover, Netiri tried again, and once again I succeeded in blocking her. But Netiri's power felt so strong in comparison. I felt my legs buckle, and I fell to my knees.

"Sienna!" I looked up to see Devon next to me. He wrapped his arms around me, and I tried unsuccessfully to push him away.

"Get out of here," I said breathlessly.

"No, I'm not leaving you."

"Isn't this sweet." Netiri's sarcastic voice sounded. "You'd think that watching the love between you both would be enough to make me change my mind." She shrugged her shoulders carelessly. "Pity, it seems I have no conscious." She paused a moment for dramatic impact. "Actually, I think I'll kill you first, Sienna. Once Devon realizes that you're not coming back, perhaps he'll join my army. You're a good warrior, Devon. I could use someone like you to lead my army."

Devon scowled angrily. "It'll be a cold day in hell before I ever join with you!" he spat viciously.

Netiri's eyes glowed angrily at his response, and she stretched out her finger once again, and I knew that I didn't have the strength to block another attack. I desperately tried to push Devon away, but instead, he did the unthinkable. As the red beams charged towards me, Devon threw himself in front of them, shielding me as I watched in horror. He fell to the ground in front of me, motionless. I closed my eyes, unable to stop the avalanche of tears. I knew he was dead. I had lost the fight in me, and I didn't resist as more red beams engulfed me.

My eyes flew open just as a green shroud of energy dissolved around me. I sat up, breathing hard.

"Sienna!"

Before Irealized what was happening, I felt arms around me, and I was being pulled into someone's lap. I looked up and was met by Devon's blue eyes that were filled with a mixture of concern and relief.

"Devon!" I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him as close to me as possible.

"Sienna, how are you feeling?" I looked up and saw a crowd of people surrounding us, with Jacek and Jarvis at the front.

"I'm fine, I think. What happened?"

"You've been unconscious for just over a week," Devon said softly, and my eyebrows shot up.

"A week? The last thing I remember was ... " I trailed off as the memories came flooding back. "Netiri!"

"It's okay," Devon said soothingly. "You got us away from her. Your body just had to do some rejuvenating afterwards."

"No, you don't understand. I think I had a vision about us."

Jarvis reached out a hand towards me, and I reluctantly took it, allowing myself to be pulled up. Devon got up beside me and took my hand.

"While you were unconscious?" Devon asked. He looked at Jarvis. "Is that even possible?"

Jarvis nodded slowly. "Even in an unconscious state, a mind is capable of receiving visions." He turned to me. "This is the first vision you've had, yes?"

I nodded. "I know it might sound crazy, but I know it's going to happen." As I said this, I felt my heart begin to shatter. I looked up at Devon as I realized that I had foreseen our deaths. I wasn't so concerned about myself, but I felt a terrible pain in my heart at the thought of anything happening to Devon.

"What did you see?" Jacek asked. I looked up at him, and I could tell that he had a fairly good idea. He had observed the way I had just looked at his grandson.

"We were in a battle, and we were losing. I saw Netiri kill Devon and me." I heard my voice crack on Devon's name. As I said this, I felt Devon's arms wrap around my waist, and he lifted a finger, pulling my face to face his.

"We can still stop this vision from coming true," he said softly. He wiped away a couple of tears that I hadn't realized were running down my cheeks.

"Devon is right," Jarvis said forcefully. "We still have a chance to change what you saw."

"But I wasn't strong enough," I cried out. "When I faced Netiri before, I wasn't strong enough to break her spell, and I saw the same thing in my vision. I wasn't strong enough to save us. By putting your faith in me your signing your own death warrants."

"But we believe in you." Jacek's calm voice spoke out. "And that will give you power too. You said that you saw yourself and Devon die," he said, and I could see the sadness in his eyes when he spoke this. "But the future is not set in stone, and we can still change things. This vision is just one of many futures that could come to pass."

"Which means that we need to concentrate on your training nowmore than ever," Jarvis said firmly, and I wholeheartedly agreed. He stepped forward and took me by the shoulders, which was kind of awkward, considering Devon refused to let go of my waist. "You are stronger than Netiri by far," he spoke with conviction. "And you have the power buried deep within you. I know you haven't been able to reach it in the past, but I think the time has come to really reach down and grab it." His eyes flicked to Devon as he continued speaking. "After all, now you have the best motivation to succeed." He looked back to me. "And believe me, no-one wants to see you succeed more than me."

I nodded slowly. He was right. Devon was that motivation, and I would do absolutely anything to ensure that his life would be safe. I couldn't let him die. I knew that if anything were to happen to him, I would lose the will to fight, and that put everyone else in grave danger. I lifted my chin with determination. I wasn't going to lose him. I loved him too damn much to let that happen.
