Adaline sat in a car. shes never been in one before. shes never really left the orphanage at all. she watched the car that she was in drive on the empty highway as they entered a tunnel.
"Hey kid, listen." said the driver. Adaline looked at him, with a disappointed stare.
"I'm sorry your new father couldn't come get you himself. But I'm sure you're going to love your new home, he seems like a nice guy, and his children seem sweet too. " he said. by now they were almost out of the tunnel.
Adaline was so deep in thought about her new family. what would they be like? would they like her? how strict are they? thoughts kept rushing and rushing to her head, until they were interrupted by the driver.
"Hey, kid" he said.
"Listen, I'm sorry I took a long time to get here, I had personal things."
"it's fine." adaline replied. "I'm not mad."
"thanks for understanding." the driver said.
"im sure you're going to love your new home."
Adaline sat quietly, still looking out the window. she was extremely tired by now, she was usually in bed by this time. she could barely even keep her eyes open.
Adaline sighed, before asking the driver, "what is my new father's name?
the man replied "His name is John doe."
"John doe? the author whose wife went missing?" adaline asked.
"Yeah, that's him, but try not to ask about it. he's probably still upset about the situation." the driver said.
Adaline had already understood that before he even asked her not to mention his wife, for she understands what it's like to lose someone very close.
Adaline couldn't keep her eyes open long enough to ask another question and had fallen asleep.
She hadn't even realized she fell asleep until she realized two hours had passed, and the car was pulling into the neighborhood her new family lived in.
She was able to see Mr. Doe's mansion from the car she was in, and soon enough, they were pulling up next to the house. Adaline had arrived.
Adaline stepped out of the car, and she sees a tall, skinny, pale figure at the door. That was John doe, her new father.
He had long white hair and pitch black eyes. He was wearing a suit, making it obvious he was wealthy, apart from his mansion.
"Hello Adaline." John said
"Welcome home."
