After Eleanor leaves, Adaline takes her plate to the sink, and rises it off. She puts the plate next to the sink, and leaves the kitchen.
As Adaline is walking, she notices an unfamiliar door. It's just like the rest of the doors in the house, but she hasn't seen that room yet, and something about it feels strange about what might be behind this specific door.
She walks up to the door, and reaches out for the door knob.
"That's the basement." Jill says, surprising Adaline.
"JILL! Please don't scare me like that." Adaline replies.
Jill says "it's dark down there, so you won't see very well without a candle."
Jill takes a candle out of the drawer closest to them. She also takes out a candle holder with a handle and a lighter.
Jill lights the candle, and takes a key out of the drawer.
She hands Adaline the key.
Adaline puts the key in, but struggles to twist the key, and Jill watches her struggle.
Eventually, she unlocks the door, and opens it. Inside is a set of stairs going into an extremely dark room.
Adaline walks down the stairs, and Jill follows.
"Why couldn't you just have brought a flashlight?" Adaline asks, but Jill doesn't answer her.
They go into the basement. The air is thick and humid. The most eye catching part of it is the fact it has lots of bookshelves, filled with old, dirty books.
"Woah..." Adaline says, amazed. Adaline loves reading, so she was very shocked. She rushes over to one of the bookshelves, and takes a book off the shelf.
"... strange, I didn't know dad kept so many of his books down here." Adaline says, surprised.
Jill replies "I didn't know either." Adaline puts the book back, and takes a few books off their shelf.
"The Pearl, Dear Moon, Lora's garden.. all of these are books dad wrote, but never published." Adaline flips through the pages very fast. "They're all complete too! Isn't that strange, Jill?" Adaline asks, but Jill does not reply. "Jill?"
Adaline turns around, only to see Jill is gone, and left the candle there.
Adaline puts the books back on the shelf.
"Should... I leave..?" Adaline asks herself.
She picks up the candle, and sighs "I'm already down here, I might as well explore more.." she goes deeper into the dark basement.
