Adaline walks back to the entrance of the basement. When she gets to the door, she quickly checks to see if anyone is nearby. She closes the basement door slowly, trying not to make any noise.
Adaline sighs "that was... Disappointing." She says to herself
"what was?" Someone asks.
Adaline flinches, and looks at him, it was Jack. "JACK! please stop scaring me like that."
Jack stares at Adaline "Are you gonna answer my question...?"
Adaline sighs "It was nothing."
"You sure?" Jack asks.
"Yes. I'm sure." Adaline says, already annoyed.
Without letting Jack reply, she walks away, going upstairs.
Adaline goes to her room, and locks herself inside.
She pulls out a small, square locket, and opens it, staring at the picture inside.
It's a picture of her mother, holding her as a young child. Her mother died years ago, but she never really got over it.
Someone knocks at the door, and Adaline quickly hides the locket. She unlocks the door, and opens it.
Jeff stands at the door. "Mom wants to talk to you." Jeff says.
Adaline smiles at Jeff, and pats him on the head. "I'll be down soon."
Jeff smiles "She'll be in the kitchen!" and walks away.
Adaline sighs, and goes back downstairs. Adaline goes to the kitchen, seeing Eleanor at the table, and John in the corner of the room. Eleanor smiles at Adaline.
Adaline asks "What did you need?"
Eleanor replies "I wanted to ask you a few things, about yourself. I'm your mother now, so I want to know more about you!"
Eleanor pulls out a chair for Adaline, and Adaline sits down. "So, first, what are some things you enjoy? Like, your hobbies." She says, looking back and forth at John and Adaline.
Adaline replies "Well, I enjoy things that require me to use my mind or body, like sports or school."
Eleanor smiles "What about clothes, what do you like to wear?"
Adaline thinks for a few seconds "I'm not sure, I'm used to wearing my uniform..."
Eleanor's smile fades "Alright then, how do you like to express yourself?"
Adaline thinks, not entirely sure how to answer Eleanor's question.
John leaves the room, and Eleanor watches him. Her smile completely fades after a few seconds, and she becomes serious
"Do you remember anything about your family? Before they died. Anything at all."
Adaline's eyes widened, surprised at the question. "Well, I never had a father, but, my mother was a famous athlete, Maria Hope, why?"
Eleanor sighs "I want you to keep that in mind. Don't forget that. Never forget that, no matter how much you want to forget. Understand?" Eleanor says, completely serious.
Adaline seems very confused "... Alright..."
Eleanor smiles "Good."
Eleanor stands up, and leaves, and Adaline watches her.
"That was strange..." Adaline says, very confused about the strange question Eleanor asked her, as well as the change in Eleanor's mood..
