Valley Vale California, June 16th 1995.
The last day of school, finally I'm getting out of this stupid Junior High.  And just in time too, if I were to be a year younger I'd have to deal with my brother and the rest of the sandlot crew.
When I walked into school I had my head held high. All of periods 1-4 slipped away until Recess.

I put my stuff in my locker and went out to the playground and baseball field. I was met with the one and only Benjamin Franklin Rodriguez .
"What's got you so happy?"
"We're done with school in two hours duh."
"Y/'n I thought you liked school, you're the top student."
"Wrong I hate it."
"But just picture it, all of us playing at the sandlot morning til dusk, being free, playing on the 4th for the annual night game." He shakes my shoulders as we approach the field.

"Yeah. Now let's go kick some ass." I say, when he lets go we do our little handshake. A fist bump, turn where our thumbs are on the upside, have our hands be flat against the others wrist and move our hands towards ourselves, have only the middle and pointed finger out, have the pointer bend down and up, pretend we sh𝟶𝟶t each other, and blow on our fingers. Let's just say we got bored one day back in 4th grade.
About half an hour later recess was almost done. Benny was up at bat against some kids, he locked eyes with the pitcher. He hit the ball and got caught in a pickle. In Benny Rodriguez fashion of course her got out of it.

When the school day was over me and the rest of the sandlot boys who were in middle school. Me and Benny were the last ones to get to our houses.
"Dude are you diseased? I've never seen you this happy in all the years I've known you."

"Well I am happy cause schools out, baseball all summer, and we're going to high school man! You'll be turning into a man!" I exclaimed.
"What am I not a man?" I laughed.
"You might actually be a grown adult one day but you'll always be a little boy to me." He made a face as we walked around the corner.
"Well fine you'll always be baby Y/n." I glared at him, and this time he chuckled. We looked across the street to see a kid in a short sleeved button up shirt.

He waved at us with a cheeky grin on his face. Benny did a quick nod, meanwhile I waved back. No where near as big as his but still just a little one. Even though we walked past his house, he walked me home.
"Tomorrow, 9 AM ok?" He asked. I nodded as we did our handshake again.
"See ya tomorrow Y/n/n."
"See ya tomorrow loser." I said as I walked in. My parents weren't home so I had the house to myself until my stupid little brother got home. I went up to my room, dropped my bag and sat on my bed. I held my face for a sec and squealed. I couldn't stop blushing, yes I know the stereotype.

There's two people that are best friends since forever, are 𝙽𝚎𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚋𝚘𝚛𝚜, and one falls in love with the other. But deep down person b is in love with person a. In this example I'm person A. I've liked Benny since I was 7, and over time it's gone away but come back shortly after. But each time it's stronger. When he calls me names as a joke, or when he comes over for movie nights, that's what makes it grow. I let go when I head Squints get home. Which also what kinda nickname is Squints?
