Mirabel, daughter of Gandalf the Grey, elf witch, Lady of the Trees and loved by all hobbits. She had never truly been by herself before, surrounded in Rivendell by her grandfather and aunt, and with her father majority of the time. She's young, and aware that her joyous nature could get her into trouble, given the dark ages traversing upon Middle Earth.
But she's given the opportunity to show her true worth, and joins the Fellowship of the ring without hesitation, not knowing that her journey will include not only danger, but friendship and love that would last longer than an elf's life.
