My heart was pounding. Fear was coursing through my veins. I stood there for a moment analysing everything I saw.

Are they actually aliens? Did they come from another planet? How is this possible? How did the government fail to notice it? Or is everything a figment of my imagination?

But I saw what I saw. I quickly pinched myself, and the pain made me realise it was real.I began rewinding everything that had happened recently around us. People have been acting weird lately.

Flashback

Two days ago I was walking to the supermarket in our neighbourhood. I accidentally bumped into someone and fell to the ground.

Oh, I'm really sorry. Did I hurt you? I got up and said in a worried tone.

It's all right,' she said robotically, looking straight ahead like talking to the wall. The lady didn't even look at me.

A day later, I met someone who behaved in a similar way. We were actually discussing it in my house, how my father and mother felt the same way.

Present

Everything that happened in my neighbourhood last week made me realise that they had hypnotised everyone in my hometown.

People were behaving like hypnotised zombies..... But there was no blood or injuries. They were under the command of the alien-human thing. Because our house was isolated, they hadn't noticed us. At least that's what I believe.

I was terrified.

The next thing I heard was my doorbell ringing. It felt like my heart had blasted out of my chest. I knew it was them.

What if they did something to my family? Will they mind control us too? I can't let that happen. But what can a helpless young girl do? As I ran down the stairs, I saw my father approaching the front door.

'Who is it at this time?' he queried.

'Just be careful,' Mum said.

What would I tell them? I know they're not going to believe me. Could it be the aliens? Dad, Mum, don't open the door,' I shouted. But before I could get to them, my father had already opened the door.

I saw a man in a black button-up shirt and black trousers. He was wearing black glasses and shiny black shoes. He was carrying a unique weapon that I had never seen before."No one is allowed to leave the house for a few days," he said in a threatening voice with an angry face. He was obviously being mind-controlled by them. They were trying to make us like the rest of the people in the town.

We were all startled and hushed at his behaviour and the weapon. 'But...'  Before my dad Before my father could speak, he quickly turned away, got into a black SUV and drove off.
