The guide continued to talk to us in the long hall that bordered the Dybukk room and Peggy's room. "I'd like to welcome you to Peggy's corner of the museum. Peggy is a haunted doll that comes from Great Britain. In fact, she is one of the more haunted dolls in the world. She was first on the paranormal scene when an investigator decided to take her on as a case study from her former owner. The woman was scared of the doll and certain that Peggy had an attachment. The former owner gave Peggy to the investigator, Jayne Harris.
Ms. Harris began to study Peggy, doing videos and posting pictures of her to her blog in 2015. Video of the doll watched by people was said to cause headaches, migraines and even heart attacks. After doing several studies and writing a book, Ms. Harris sold the doll to Zak. He acquired Peggy from Ms. Harris and she now resides in the museum.
To visit Peggy is optional, because of the affects she's had on others. There is a spirit box inside the room. So, when you enter, please be respectful and say hello to Peggy. When you leave, please say goodbye. Because the spirit box is in there, it's like having your own seance with Peggy. It's safe to make sure when you leave to say goodbye to break the seance connection. Plus, it's also a good idea to not look her in the eye if you have any heart condition. Of course, if you'd like to face her and be brave, that is up to you."
"Do we have to do any of what you say? I mean, like say that hello and goodbye stuff," a man asked behind me.
"It's up to you whether you want to talk to Peggy. In fact, she might not say anything. But she has been pretty talkative all day today. For the record, I usually just stay outside and wait for everyone to walk through. It's up to you. Like the Dybukk Box room, this room is also optional."
The guide waved her hand towards the door. We all waited to see who would open it. My brave fellow cohort in this tour walked in first. So, I followed her. We immediately could hear the static of a spirit box running ahead of us. There was Peggy. I short haired blonde doll in a white lace dress. She had little black shoes on and was staring straight at me with her big blue eyes. I looked away, just to be safe. We moved forward and the box suddenly had a word come through.
"Hi!" It was a little girl's voice that sounded really welcoming.
"Hello." I said back.
People followed behind us as we walked closer to the rail that was in front of the box where Peggy sat within. Likely, to keep people from getting too close to her, the rail was a nice place to lean against and look at her. Or not look at her eyes at least. I decided to play safe and just look at her more lower regions or the wall next to her.
Other people behind me started to say hi to her as well. Lots of "Hi Peggy" and "How are you doing?" started to sound off around me. I thought of a question. "Peggy, how old are you?"
"Six" came through from the box.
A person asked, "Can you name someone in this group?"
"Kevin" came a girl's voice from the spirit box. There were gasped in the group.
The tour guide had stayed in the doorway. She peaked in and said, "He's a regular that usually comes here on Friday's to see her. He didn't come this last Friday."
I asked another question. "Peggy, how is your day going?"
"Peaceful" came through the box. This time, it was in a man's voice.
Most of the people were starting to file out, and I didn't feel like I wanted to leave. I felt drawn to this doll. I wanted to stay. Just be in the room with her. But I fought the compulsion, especially to look right at her. I felt intuitively it would be best to leave. I turned, walking away, and heard from the box, "Don't go."
A woman near me shouted back, "Peggy, you're my favorite."
That's when I remembered to say the important words of all. "Good-bye, Peggy."
I had to break the connection. I needed to get away from the doll.
I finally got through the door into the hall. Fresh air. That was better. I needed a breather after the Dybukk Box and Peggy. These were intense objects.
The tour guide's voice interrupted my thoughts. "Now that we've visited Peggy, it's time to see one of our reluctant residents. The head of the witch."
WHAT?
Author's Note:
I wanted to say this was a bit of a harder section to write. The Dybuuk Box room and Peggy's room is a difficult area for me. The items in that part of the museum have a lot of energy that affects people. The above picture is from one of my journals that I'm taking these haunted museum experiences from. Every time I visit, I do write down my experiences. This particular Peggy experience is from June 2019. My cousin had just died and I'd gone to help with his arrangements. Plus, I'd been before back in January to visit him and March to visit some friends. I had some of my more unusual Dybuuk Box experiences then. I had one of the tour guides concerned about what had been happening to me, and I forever thank her for having a talk about it. It was a hard time for me. It might come up later in the story when I rewrite. For now, I'm going to leave this entry like this. Enjoy!
