 CHAPTER I

When The Saints Go Marchin' In

. . .

WATERBURY INSANE ASYLUM

T'was the night before Halloween as the full moon shone brightly in the blue sky above.

The stars glistened over the earth as the trees danced with the chills of October.

The woodland creatures slept peacefully in their habitats.

The ponds and rivers moved against the winds of the night as the shore soaked in its chilly temperature.

Parents laid awake with the moon; sipping their red wine and champagne.

While naive adolescents were tucked in tightly, sleeping the night quietly away.

All seemed to be right with the world...or so it appeared.

As the night carried on, a group of teenagers can be seen casually drinking and smoking inside Waterbury's Insane Asylum, to celebrate the ghostly Holiday.

Unknowingly to them, this would be the last night they saw their dear friends alive...

Just as midnight approached, one particular echidna crept slowly through the night.

His muscular, tall body avoided the light beaming from the moon as he snuck his way into the massive structure.

He made sure not to make a sound as he carefully locked the entrance doors behind him.

He did the same with the others, locking one after the other, doing his best to keep his sound limited.

He lurked around for a brief moment before finally locking the last.

Now, everyone inside was sealed in.

No one could get in or out.

His pearly white smile pierced through the darkness as he scanned the wide corridors for a particular white bat dressed in black.

"Where are you batty...?" He thought to himself. He crept around a bit further, lurking in every hospital room and office; but to no avail. He finally reached the quiet lunchroom as he carefully made his way inside. He scanned over the large area for a brief moment, but only darkness and silence stared back at him. He slowly turned with the sudden clack of heels immediately catching his attention.
