Chapter 02: Daniel Park

*****

Fate must be mocking Daniel.

"Yeah, hi." His new seatmate grumbled, a familiar glare set in his flinty eyes as he lifted his hand in acknowledgement to Daniel's greeting.

But all he can do is bear it with a smile.

So much for a new start.

Daniel couldn't help but lament his horrible luck. Not only did he get socially murdered right as he moved to a new place, now he is also deskmates with his social murderer at the new school he transferred to.

What are the chances that this could happen?

The universe is laughing at me. He internally cries as he tries to look away from the intense staring his seatmate is doing, his eyes moving across the room to catalog his new classmates.

A lot of them are still staring at him, which took all his will not to squirm as cold sweat gathered at his palms and his forehead. Something bright catches Daniel's periphery, catching his full attention.

What he sees almost made him blush and a tad envious.

Right by the window, two people are leaning towards each other comfortably. The blonde girl is leaning towards her equally blonde boyfriend(?) casually, while the latter had his chin tucked on the girl's shoulder. The girl is very beautiful, almost angelic in her appearance, with long dark lashes set in big dark mysterious eyes, a cute button nose and pink pouting lips, hair done in a low hanging ponytail with some straying to curl artfully to her face. There's a number of beauty marks on her face but it only stands to contrast her perfectly pale skin. The boy on the other hand is quite handsome despite the fact that only the lower part of his face is visible with his bright blonde bangs obscuring his eyes. A long straight nose, unblemished skin and nice jawline, he is also fully accessorized with earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces.

(Daniel eyes their matching braided paracord bracelets, the boy has it on his left wrist in black and white while the girl has it on her right wrist in an inverted scheme. Uwaaah... they even have a couple's bracelets on.)

All in all, they look like an attractive couple. And as if to truly cement their great looks, the bright morning sun shone down on them from the window, casting a golden glow to their hair and fair skin. There's a mysterious air about them, from the girl's dark eyes to the boy's obscured face, and as if they've heard his thoughts, both of them looked at Daniel.

Having been caught staring, Daniel's face started to feel warm and even more so when the girl gave him a lazy smile.

He looks away immediately, embarrassed, only to come face to face with another girl standing in front of his desk, smiling at him.

Wow. Daniel couldn't help but stare. She's hot.

"Hey~" Her glossy smile took him aback, it's not common for Daniel to be greeted first, and by a pretty girl no less.

If the girl from earlier was beautiful, the one that's standing in front of him is pretty with a great figure that she's not afraid to show off.

"Daniel, right?"

Daniel nods.

"Hi, I'm Park Han-eul but Zoe is fine for a cutie like you tehe~" Zoe winked and giggled cutely then leaned forward, highlighting a pair of assets that Daniel resolutely tries not to look at.
