I woke up the next morning to find Jack lying right beside me, much to my surprise. He was still asleep, and he looked peaceful and very handsome. I scooted closer to him and began to play with his hair, admiring his face. The scars were still very much present, but they were beginning to fade. I wonder what really had transpired for him to have gotten them.

Memories of last night flashed in my mind and then I remembered the conversation I overheard between him and his bodyguards. The name Arturo kept crossing my mind. Who is Arturo and why did Jack view him as a threat? I needed answers and I intended on getting them one way or another.

“Just what are you hiding from me Jack?” I muttered to myself, which caused him to stir and his hypnotic green eyes opened a second later. Smiling lazily, he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me onto his bare chest.

“Good morning,” he greeted, rubbing my back with his other hand.

I smiled down at him. “It sure is. I thought you would’ve left for work by now.”

“I’m allowed to be occasionally late since I am the boss,” he joked, and I laughed. He grabbed the back of my head gently and pulled me down to kiss me. I was hesitant at first because of morning breath but he didn’t seem to care so I decided to go with the flow. Once he pulled away, he stroked my cheek lovingly.

“I just love you so damn much. I can’t live without you Gen. I need you; I breathe you. My whole life is basically all about you. I can’t lose you and I won’t lose you,” he affirmed, and I moved down to lay my head down on his chest.

“You know, you’re starting to sound a bit obsessed Jack.”

“That’s because I am.”

“Very unhealthy…but I guess I love you too,” I teased, and he laughed, causing his chest to vibrate underneath me.

For some minutes we just laid there, enjoying each other’s presence and warmth until he spoke up again. “Tonight, we’re going out for dinner.” He stated rather than asked. Propping myself up on my elbows, I looked down at him in puzzlement.

“Are you telling me or you’re asking me?” I inquired and he got out of the blanket enroute to the bathroom.

“The former. You better wear something to impress me girl,” he said huskily and threw a smirk at me over his shoulder.

I too smirked and I laid back down on my back. “You know I always do.”

All of a sudden, I was feeling excited. But what was I going to wear? I doubt I had anything befitting of a night out. Maybe if I dug around in my closet, I could find something decent…

When Jack came out of the bathroom, he was clad in a towel and his hair was wet. “I don’t know if I have anything to wear though,” I said, allowing to let the statement hang in the air. From the look on his face, I knew he knew the direction in which this conversation was heading.

He sighed and walked into the closet. “You can go shopping…” I squealed in delight and immediately peeled out of the sheets to run over to him and give him a huge hug from behind. He laughed at my childish antics. “But no sneaking off and you will take your bodyguards with you,” he added in a serious tone.

I nodded, placing a kiss on his cheek. I left him to get dressed as I made for the bathroom to get ready. “I promise I’ll be a good girl daddy,” I purred. Before I got far, he slapped my bum and I looked back at him in surprise.

“You better be,” he winked, and I closed the door behind me, smiling to myself.
