Genevieve’s P.O.V

The hand of the grip around my lower face made me panic as the hidden figure pulled me into an alcove. I couldn’t see who it was, neither could I breathe but all I had in my mind was total regret for getting myself into this situation. I tried to push the off me, but they pushed me hard into the wall, making me drop my purse and pressed me against the surface. Pain pulsated all over my back and tears sprang to my eyes both due to it and the fact that I was totally helpless.

As the life within me started to fade away, the person finally put their hand away from my nose and mouth, allowing me to take in a huge gasp of air. “Aw, baby doll, did I hurt you?” came an awfully familiar and absurdly insincere voice. Panting like a mad dog, my vision cleared and I could finally make out the contours if Aurelio’s face.

He caught my chin and forced my gaze to meet his. “Out of breath? I bet I can take it all away when I finally have your body in my bed,” he whispered and kissed my cheek.

“Let me go or I’ll scream,” I growled, and the bastard laughed sadistically, and he had my arms pinned against the wall behind me in a flash.

He tsked in pity. “Now Gen, we wouldn’t want anyone coming here and finding us in this compromising position. I mean, everyone saw you walking away to…follow me so that we could meet up here and have a quickie,” he pouted, and my glare turned murderous.

“Go to hell. Nobody would believe that shit. Besides, I could say I was looking for the bathroom and you tried to assault me. None of this looks good, especially since a lot of Jack’s guards are all over this place. I told him about the dressing room stunt and believe me when I say he wouldn’t mind ripping your intestines out,” I spat acidly, only for him to scoff.

He moved my arms together and held them down with his palm, whilst the other one moved along the side of my waist. “I know you were following Jack, trying to see where he’s gone and what he’s up to. Baby doll, it’s best you stay out of that before you get caught in the shitshow. Are you ready to die for this man?” he questioned me with a serious tone. “You should have never gotten yourself in this anyways because I am going to make you suffer,” he whispered, brushing his lips against my collarbone.

I needed to think fast to get myself out of here. I shouldn’t have agreed to any of this, and I certainly should have not gone around snooping for clues. My mind went back to the day when he happened on me at the clothing store, so I thought of recreating that scene. “You know, Aurelio. You’re a very attractive man,” I trailed off, moving up my body to make it seem like I was enjoying his movements.

He hummed and brought his face up close to mine. “Is that so, baby doll?” he asked, sounding a lot skeptical. He wasn’t believing it at all, which meant I had to work a lot harder to sell the lie.

I bit my lip. “Oh yeah. I won’t lie, I have fantasized about you when I was naked in the shower. I’ve imagined how you taste, how you’d feel…inside of me,” I said in my most alluring voice. Slowly, he let go of my hands and went to hold my hips. I then took the chance to wrap my arms around his neck and put my fingers in his dark brown hair. “I bet you’d do me so hard and so good. It’s wrong, to think about it, since I’m married to Jack, but I can’t help it. You excite me, Aurelio,” I said and rubbed my nose against his cheek bone.

Our proximity allowed me to feel the bulge in his pants, and it was truly disturbing. “I’ve thought about you a lot too, Gen. Your eyes, your lips, your body…dios, I want to kiss you so badly right now,” he whispered breathily and squeezed my waist.

Gradually, I leaned in and as our lips brushed, I raised my knee to nail him in his family jewels. He groaned loudly before collapsing to the floor in a bundle of pain right in front of me. I smirked in triumph and took my purse off the ground. “Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you excited to see me?” I mocked him and stepped over his crumpled form.

“Y-you’ll…pay for this puta,” he moaned in anguish, twitching about on the floor whilst clutching his crotch. I began to walk away from him and decided to head back down to where the rest of the partygoers were. I easily found my parents as they had already found a seat and it seemed they’d ordered their food.

I took a seat beside my mother. “Honey, what took you so long? We were starting to worry,” she said, and took a sip from her wine glass.

I shrugged with a plain smile. “I couldn’t find the bathroom in this palace. And by the time I did, there was a short line, so I had to wait,” I replied, taking my makeup kit from my purse. I’m so glad I didn’t apply much makeup tonight, otherwise I’d have been looking like pennywise. I caught my father eyeing me suspiciously from the corner of my eye. I put my kit back where it was and turned to him. “That food looks amazing, I better get some too,” I said and then called out to one of the caterers.

A little while later, Jack finally returned and came to sit at our table. “I’m very sorry that I was so long. There were some pending issues that needed to be addressed urgently,” he apologized, subconsciously rubbing his knuckles which had some discolorations.

“What happened to your hand?” I inquired, elbows on the table, giving him an interrogative look.

He glanced down at his hand that he’d been previously massaging before he hid it underneath the table. “I bumped a table upstairs. I can be clumsy sometimes,” he chuckled nervously, and my mother began to shower him with words to make him feel better. My father and I, on the other hand, were experts in bullshit detecting. This here, ladies and gentlemen, is a prime example of bullshitting. It was just like with the shier he had on his face that night. Jack was short tempered and the best way for him to get the point across was through violence.

I quickly spotted both Arturo and Aurelio trying to subtly make their way out of the room. I caught the huge bruise on Arturo’s cheekbone and Aurelio was limping a bit. We all simultaneously looked at each other and they had murderous intent in their glares. It was clear, some sort of line in the sand had been drawn and we had crossed it. They were angry and without a doubt vengeful.

Arturo was the madder of the two; his eyes were bleeding with rage. The way he looked at me made me realize that he was a very dangerous man, just as I had rightfully deduced. I was brought out of the staring contest when Jack took my hand, trying to get my attention. “Gen, what are you looking at? Did you hear what I said?” he spoke, giving my hand a gentle squeeze.

I nodded my head absentmindedly. “Yeah, I did,” I mumbled, and he shook his head. He knew I hadn’t heard a single thing.

“Sweety, we are heading back to L.A tomorrow. It has been all too lovely being here, but I have some meetings to attend and your father, well, let’s just say he’s no longer used to being away from home anymore,” my mother worded politely.

It was sad to hear that they were leaving but those days of long ago were gone. I had to get used to not having them nearby, and it made my heart constrict painfully but, in the end, it was probably for the best. There was a dark looming over us, and I’d prefer it if they were not around when things started getting ugly.

Like when I beat the information out of Jack.

He had a lot of explaining to do and with them gone, I’d have a chance to do it at leisure. There wouldn’t be any more bullshit, half-truths or escaping.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
