6. Love Story

When Kyo gained consciousness again, he was on the hospital bed, his entire upper body covered in bandages. Kyo sighed. It was nothing new for him. He was often in the hospital because of his injuries inflicted on him by Akito.

A month passed by since that incident and Kyo had remained bed-ridden the whole time. However, during this one month, he got to know that Akito was pregnant, which made him slightly relieved. If she was pregnant, she cannot act that violently, neither can she make sudden movements because it would keep her baby in danger. Although Kyo wasn't sure about whether Akito was happy about the baby, he was sure about the fact that Akito would never do anything to harm her own child. Kyo was thanking God for giving him a breather. Even if it was nine months, it was enough for a lot to happen.

Soon after he recovered, Kyo returned to college, feeling extremely tired. "Sohma, how are you feeling now? I heard you got into an accident and was hospitalized the past one month." Shiraki-sensei asked as soon as she saw Kyo. "I'm okay sensei. Thank you for your concern." Shiraki-sensei nodded. "If you're still feeling weak, you can rest in the infirmary." Kyo nodded in understanding and his teacher started taking the class.

After class was over, they had a small break before the next one. "Kyo-kun!" Someone called, stilling Kyo in place. No one except Akito, and nowadays Shigure called him. He chose to ignore it. "Kyo-kun!" This time, out of curiosity, Kyo turned around and his heart could've jumped out of his chest with how fast it was beating. However, it wasn't fear that made his heart race this time... rather something completely different. An unknown feeling, he never experienced, yet loved every bit of it.

"Tohru!" Kyo exclaimed, making Tohru furrow her eyebrows. Kyo instantly restrained himself and looked down before responding again. "Honda-san."

Tohru laughed when she heard those words come from her Prince Charming's mouth. Wait. Since when did he become her Prince Charming? Maybe, ever since she saw him. Unlike the other girls in her school who were all part of the Prince Yuki fan club and considered Yuki a prince, Tohru considered Kyo a prince. She even thought Kyo looked way more handsome than Yuki. "Your communication is quite bad, Kyo-kun." She spoke.

"Stay away from me." Kyo said sternly. "Why? After having my cup cake, you want me to stay away? That's rude." Tohru said, pouting slightly, making Kyo's heart jump wildly in his chest. However, he remained silent.

"Come with me." Tohru said as she held Kyo's hand, startling him. He wanted to pull his hand away, but he didn't have enough determination to do that. Because deep down, he so desperately wanted to be next to his angel, Tohru Honda. He wanted that hand to hold his forever. To never let go. And to pull him out of his darkness and cursed life.

Tohru dragged Kyo to a remote area with no people, pulled out a cupcake from nowhere and gave it to Kyo. "For you." Tohru said as she handed him the chocolate cupcake. "F-for me?" Kyo stuttered, making Tohru nod enthusiastically.

Kyo smiled and took the cupcake from her hands and slowly started savoring it. Unlike the previous cupcake he had which was vanilla flavored, this cupcake was chocolate. And it tasted even better than the previous one.

"You're quite a sweet tooth, huh?" Tohru asked Kyo. "Yes. It's just that Akito... I'm sorry." Kyo said. "Akito-san controls your everything? I saw the other day too. What happened?" Tohru asked, sending a shiver down Kyo's spine. "I have classes." Kyo said as he stood up. "Okay. See you later, Kyo-kun."

Kyo couldn't help but blush when he heard Tohru call his name so lovingly. He abruptly stood up and walked away. However, his mind was filled with images of Tohru Honda the whole day.

The next day, Kyo went to the same bench and sat there waiting for Tohru. They had no fixed meeting. But, nevertheless, Kyo waited. He was sure Tohru would come.

"Kyo-kun? What are you doing here?" Kyo heard that angelic voice, making him look straight into that angel's eyes, making his heart thump loudly. "N-n-n-nothing! I-I-I-I I was j-just sitting here." Kyo stuttered, like a thief caught in the act of stealing.

"I see. Thank you though." Tohru said smiling widely. Kyo's heart bet so loudly he was sure he would die young of a heart-attack. He quickly avoided her gaze and looked around. Tohru, on the other hand, laughed brightly as she saw his cute reaction.

Hearing that carefree laugh, a smile naturally spread across Kyo lips before he joined in along with her. For the first time in his life, a carefree, happy, loud laugh came from the depth of his heart. And suddenly, time seemed to have slowed down. Everything looked beautiful. Flowers bloomed while a small gust of wind blew by, swaying those brown and orange locks of hair gently.

Two care-free, happy souls laughed innocently, without a care in the world. After some time, their eyes met, staring deeply into each other. Brown into orange. Those two hearts, beating in sync with each other, like a beautiful melody.

"C-can we... meet again tomorrow? Honda-san?" Kyo asked. "Of course, we can. But can you please call me Tohru first. Also, why don't you laugh more often. You look so handsome when you laugh." Tohru said, making Kyo blush.

Since then, those two, naive, innocent souls kept meeting each other every day in the same place. With either cupcakes, or delicious food. And slowly, love blossomed between the two souls, filling their hearts with pure joy.

Tohru was like Kyo's sun. Her mere thought and sight made Kyo feel butterflies in his stomach and his whole body was filled with a new kind of joy he never felt in his whole life.
