"With him?" I ask, disgust clearly laced in my tone.

"Yes, Allona. I know you and Pietro don't exactly get along, but you two are the only ones who can pass as high school students." Steve says.

"What about Wanda? She's the same age I am!" I more or less shout.

He sighs. "Yes, I know, but Wanda and Pietro are too close to act like they don't know each other when school starts."

"Fine. Fine! Just know I'm not happy about this." I grumble. I head to my room to mourn my unfair situation.

When I agreed to join the Avengers, it was the best decision I ever made. Not only do I get to use my powers saving people, I became a part of an amazing family. Well, aside from the speedster with a poor dye job. I swear he makes it his life's mission to bug the shit out of me.

Earlier I found out that I was assigned to an undercover mission. And guess who's my partner? Pietro.

That's right, that obnoxious imbecile is my partner for the entire school year. Well, that's not exactly true. Nat says as soon as we can get the information needed, we're outta there. But who knows how long that'll be.

Our mission is to infiltrate some of Hydra agents' kids. Apparently they're these nerdy boys who have never gotten attention from a female, so it's my job to befriend them. Pietro's job is just to be there if I need him, backup. He's too cocky and flirtatious to become friends with them.

Obviously, as their parents have money, they go to a private school, so I'll have to wear a uniform. Yay.

But I am glad that they allow girls to wear a skirt, some high schools don't.

The only good thing is that Pietro and I won't be staying in the same house. It will be a nice change from him stealing my food in the morning.

The next morning Steve and Natasha brief us on our backstory. My name is to be Corrigan Stalsberg, I'm a junior. Luckily I haven't grown much since high school, so it'll be easy to pass for a 17-year-old. My parents are Annie and Rob Stalsberg. Could they be more generic? At least my name is unique. I'm a straight A student, which isn't hard for me. I snicker, wondering if they expect Pietro to get good grades too.

Nat looks at me and asks, "Is something funny, Allona?"

"No, no, sorry Nat."

She smiles warmly at me; I've always been on her good side.

I turn to Pietro and see him frowning slightly. I don't want to be the first one to ask, but my curiosity is killing me.

"What's your name, Pietro?"

"Pietro," he says with a smirk, "Did you already forget my name, míla?"

"No, you idiot. I was asking about your NEW name. And don't call me that." I snapped.

"Why not? Do you even know what míla means?"

"No," I grumbled, "Stop stalling. Tell me your name."

"Fine, fine. It is Peter."

"What's wrong with Peter? It sounds just like Pietro."

"No, it does not! Pietro sounds sophisticated, Peter is just stupid."

I laughed at his idiotic reasoning. "Okay, whatever you say, Pete."

"Alright, kids, you should head to bed. Tomorrow you'll meet your 'parents' and settle in your new home." Steve told us.

As we were walking out, Nat dropped one more bomb on me. "Oh, by the way, you two are neighbors."

"Ack! Can this day get any worse?!"
